Anyone every tried Yahoo Answer Marketing and Amazon?

I have been trying to get people to buy stuff through Amazon on Yahoo Answers. So far I have not did too well. I am searching for keywords like: buy, purchase and best.

I had tried this about 2 years ago but I thought it was not worth the time. I made a few small sales but the time I put in was more than it was worth for the small sales. The thing is, for the last 2 years I continue to make sales here and there worth a few bucks for the work I did. Usually its 3-10 bucks a month or so. Some months I get no sales at all.

Maybe I did not give it a hard enough push or maybe its just dead on yahoo answers.

personally i've never tried it, but i've heard from others that it can be lucrative. however, yahoo answers seems to be one of those things which is on the decline as of late. you might be better getting some FAQs on your site and trying to get the pages ranked

I've actually never tried marketing through Yahoo answers, although I'm not sure how effective it would be. I think that as a platform, it's not really that well set up for affiliate marketing.

Why not just find some keywords, and get a website started to promote Amazon products? Considering the number which you've mentioned above I think you would get far more value for your money from running a website and utilizing some SEO. Perhaps you could even use Yahoo in conjunction with your website for additional income.

Another thing about trying to market through Yahoo answers is that while it can perhaps earn you some small amounts of income ... you aren't left with anything of value at the end of the day. You get your commission and that's it. It's a very unstable business model. Compare this to a website. If the website makes say $400 a month from affiliate sales then it will be worth maybe 10-15 times this amount should you decide to sell it.
Something else to consider is what if Amazon were to change their affiliation program in such a way that it meant it was no longer a suitable option for you to make money from. With Yahoo answers, you're screwed. But, if you have a website you can diversify your income streams - adsense, solo ads or other forms of monetization.

    Food for thought

Post your affiliate link with your level 2 yahoo answers account and a good post. Amazon links are long to begin with but some people there catch on even if you write a good post. I had two posts removed yesterday. I think you only get 3 and the account dies. The problem is it takes like 2 hours of work to get an account to level 2. Then after several hours of promotion I have no money yet.

I am going to give it a good push until both my accounts are dead. Many times even when they kill the account the live links stay in some posts which can and does give you traffic or years which can lead to a sale. I am still using only one account. I figured its worth a good hard push until both accounts are dead and see what I get.

What value do you get from voting your own answers as best? Do you promote stuff?

If I did try either of those I would make sure I have some kick@ss product to sell or spend as little on ad revenue as possible.

To be honest, yahoo answers seem very easy, lucrative, and promising, but in reality it is different. You have to work really hard to get good results, but Amazon has been a great place for me.

I have been doing yahoo answer for a while now and it is a good source for leads.

It is by no means a good source for traffic, just leads.

Instead of haveing an affiliate link I use my squeeze page.

You really have to pay attention on what the person is asking. Its one thing to have someone curious and another looking to solve there problem.

Look for the little things like how old are they. If its someone under age you wont get any where with them. If its a parent asking for their under age child that's a different story.

Just give true value with a good product with a question that applies to you. Read and care what they are asking. It will pay off.

I think the best thing you could do is go out and try it. If it works for you great, if not move on to something that does work for you.

    Good luck

I think posting an affiliate link as a source or part of your answer is not a good idea. If it's me, I will not click your link, it's too obvious you only want to promote a product. I think it's good to have a website and put your article as a source of your answer.

Yahoo answers can be used to generate leads. The only thing that sucks is you need to have a level 2 account to post active links.

Once you have a level 2 account though, post a link to your squeeze page and capture the leads. Then you know what happens from there...money in the list, etc, etc...

I tried yahoo answers an year back, and I would say it was a terrible source of traffic. I was trying sell an affiliate product, didn't sell any.

Did I tell you its also very time consuming, go and a write an article with that time it would be better.

Bit off the topic of yahoo answers, but I have found a great way to make cash with Amazon is just build a simple review site and get it ranking for a keyword that gets circa 1k exact searches a month - an exact domain can really help get you to the top of the rankings quickly.

Just a thought if you are struggling to make $$ with amazon.

    Thanks

I owned a site a couple years ago that received a ton of traffic from Yahoo Answers. I never posted anything there, but someone else posted a link to my website and it helped me generate quite a bid of adsense revenue. Eventually the traffic faded, but based on that, I'm sure it would work.

Thanks for asking the question. Now I have some Yahoo Answer links to work on...
