700USD Budget, Should I Buy OR Build a website to MONETIZE from it?

Hi,
As I've already shared my story onmaking money from Fiverr.
After rewarding myself by buying games from app store, and a guild wars 2 account, I have 700 USD in my paypal account. I'm appreciated every advice from that thread on how to expand the Moondancing gig and I am currently working on some ideas.
Besides, I need your advice on how to make use of this money. I'd like to invest this money on some online business to make money. I am thinking of 2 ways:

1. Buying a site and continue building it to make money:
2. Start building a site with a profitable niche

Actually, I managed to build and run my own blog with basic wordpress set up so i am not totally noob in setting up new site. But currently I am leaning on the method 1 cause I am not an IT guy so building a site from scratch is a pain and (i think) cost a lot.

However, I am afraid of being scammed of buying fake high traffic site, blacklisted site, etc. So, I have some questions:

- What should I pay attention to when I buy a site?
- What is the best and most trustworthy place to buy a site? (digitalpoint?)
- What kind of site should I invest on?
- How to check the site if it is legal and already making money (if the buyer advertise so)?
- Some more ideas from you on this issue?

Every suggestion or idea is really appreciated
Best regards
Tu Michael

I think you should make your own site and practice ranking that. Once you feel you have the SEO knowledge I would then consider buying an already earning site.

For 700 you might get a site earning 50 - 100 a month, so it will take you a few months to make the money back. However, you will need to keep those site rankings, and if you don't know how you will lose your investment or have to spend more on outsourcing SEO.

Just my take on the situation.

Invest in a premium wordpress theme such as thesis / genesis and continue to blog about your success with fiverr.

If you can teach others how to repeat your success then you have your own information product in a niche that is hot right now, loads of people want to know who to use fiverr to make money.

Most of these themes will come with places to put an opt-in form on your blog, so you're listbuilding as well as increasing the number of people who are able to socially share your story.

I think you have a strong brand and story here that will connect well with people, and the best way to share this story is through an awesome blog.

If i were you, I'd keep the money and build the site from scratch. Aside from avoiding possible scams from web site sellers, you'll learn the "ins and outs" of building a website that would help you in the future if you decide to have more websites

I agree with a previous poster. Start your own site (doesn't cost much at all) so that you have the basics down. Once you're able to do things yourself, then I would consider buying a site. The reality is that in order for a site to continue making money, you're going to have to manage it, so it's important you learn how to do stuff first.

    Good luck,
    Joey

If you know SEO, build your own website in a low competition niche. Don't know how to build and rank websites? Buy revenue-generating sites from Flippa.

    - What should I pay attention to when I buy a site?
Make sure that the site has verified AdSense revenue. Don't fall for new sites with claims to have made insane amount of money.

    - What is the best and most trustworthy place to buy a site? (digitalpoint?)
    Flippa.com

    - What kind of site should I invest on?
    Niche sites with AdSense income

    - How to check the site if it is legal and already making money (if the buyer advertise so)?
    Verified AdSense

    - Some more ideas from you on this issue?
Do not pay more than 10 times the last revenue. Consider the amount of work involved in maintaining the site. Do not buy a site that you won't be able to maintain.

Build your own website. Buy your domain, hosting and Autoresponder. Put up high quality content for your readers.
If you do want to spend money, spend it on good quality traffic. If you want to spend some on content, that's not a bad idea either.

The fiverr blog is actually quite a good idea. That is something you already have going for you and could be a great spinoff with tons of traffic down the road.

@Simmeon: yeah, gw2! I skip WOW and go straight to GW2 do u play GW?
@tmoby: yes, I agree. I don’t think I am capable of maintaining the site and the cost for outsourcing will be even more expensive
@AndrewStark: I already purchased Semiologic Pro Theme for my blog. Ur idea is great! I will try writing about my own story and share my own tips and tricks on how to make money on Fiverr. Hopefuly I will publish an ebook soon before the niche gets saturated. Thanks!
@iammiles + Miguelito203: Thanks. Until now I realize it’s really better than buying a site without knowing anything to maintain it
@xtrapunch: great advice! Thank u! I’ll try to build from scratch first. Then if it doesn’t work out, I will try buying a revenue-generating site based on ur advice
@Bluestarace: Thanks. I will do it! Autoresponder: Is Aweber the best?
