Check Out My New Site

I've got a few sites going, but I'm really enjoying working on this one. What started out as a joke (re: trolling on FB LOL) turned into something that I thought could be of use to a lot of people.

Actually, I found this out while doing my own research for the articles that I've written thus far.

So, with that being said, check it out, tell me what you think...suggestions are always welcomed!

Your dead Toyota website is nice. I enjoyed checking out some pics of old Toyota car.
If you can market your website to right audience, I am sure you will get lots of regular reader.

    Looks good. Nice idea too.

Are you ranking or getting any traffic yet?

Ranking yes, I'm already on page one of the Googles.

Traffic...that's a different story. LOL I would love to get moar traffic, but I need to put more content up. It's something that I'm working on now, but it is a bit research-intensive...

What do I think? Two things - sorry to be harsh
    1) your post is just self promoting
    2) by making it public you are heading for a DMCA notice from Toyota - their name has to be trademarked

      1) not promoting it, just looking for some honest feedback. I doubt many of my future clients will be coming from WF...LOL.
      2) Not really concerned about that, as there are quite a few websites with the word Toyota in them (and have nothing to do with the company itself).

Nice and simple website. Toyota is a great company to focus on.

What social plugins do you use?

Just what came with the theme itself (I got the theme from fthemes.com).

Thats a neat little idea you have there! I'm sure you can find loyal readers (and toyota haters) but try to give the site a unique look.. maybe shorten the post size, add in a nice logo etc.. Currently it looks like a blogger-free-template blog.. if you know what I mean.

    Hope this helps.

Yeah, I've been kicking around the idea of shortening the posts...making the reader want to click on it and read the whole thing. I'll do it now. The people have spoken!

Wifey is working on putting together a logo, so that's definitely next on the list. I know it looks like a free blogger template, because it is LOL...but I plan on upgrading it as soon as it starts generating decent revenue.

      Thanks for the advice.

I hope you'll forgive me, but what's the point of this site? What's the purpose? I looked for an about us page to get some kind of idea, but didn't see one. Is the site supposed to be humorous or informative. I get the impression that you're just bashing Toyota, especially with the post about Toyota cars no longer with us. There are actually a couple of cars there that I personally liked and wish Toyota still made them, like the MR2 Spyder and the Celica.

Also, if the links at the bottom of the page are not yours, I would edit the footer to remove them as it looks spammy.

I can't remove them unless I buy the theme, and that's not something that is cost-effective for me right now.

It definitely is tongue-in-cheek, and highly controversial, as I'm aware that there are many loyal Toyota owners...heck, all of my in-laws drive one! Don't take it too seriously...well, except the recall articles. That's the informative side of it...

Hmm, you have the name Toyota in your domain - toyota is trademarked, - expect the wrath of toyota to fall upon your head.

2 you need to have a read more on each post. your homepage is way way too long.

You need monetization on your blog........

      1) Not worried about it.

      2) Will do.

      3) See Adsense and CJ ads. I'm always open for other ideas...

Being a Toyota driver for the last 9 years, once I clicked over to your site, I read through the post.

I would think you would go for more targeted ads if your trying to monetize the site. Not the top ones but maybe the ones about half way down the page on the right. Banner ad at the bottom is relevant but thinking you may want to post it above the fold. Might as well capture some click through's before they get tired of reading and click away.

Great headline in my opinion. Caught my attention right away.

Be interesting to see what happens with the site over the next six months or so, especially if it can get money coming in. It will probably make be a good site to flip.

Thanks Ken, I appreciate it! And thanks for the ad placement suggestion...I will try that out for sure.

I don't think that I'll ever flip it, I consider this and my dating sites to be my babies...my two loves in life are cars and dating/relationships.

I think it looks nice. I don't know if I agree with the comments about the home page being too long. Look at sites like thechive. Their home page is really long and it's a hugely popular site.

Visually - Have you tried using an image carousel?
Revenue opportunity - you may be able to tie up with local dealers to drive them leads

      1) Not at the moment, but I'll test one out to see how I like it.

      2) Also not at the moment...I may move towards that eventually, but I doubt that Toyo dealers will want to advertise on an anti-Toyota site LOL. Perhaps their competitors? :p

As a few have suggested, the toyota brand is protected.
If you don't get much traffic and don't appear on their radar screen, then I would guess you are relatively safe from toyota's wrath. But if by some chance your site starts to garner views by the tens of thousand and becomes viral, then expect toyota's lawyers knocking at your door. You are using their brand both in your site and in your domain. But then again, if you're a fan site, they may actually encourage this type of behavior, as you give them free publicity.
Adding an "about" page might be a good idea, as it's now expected from most sites.
Looks pretty good though, from my corner of the globe.
    cheers!

I know that it's only a matter of time before Toyota comes knocking on my door...I've got a backup plan in place. Besides, I only have the current domain for a year, so if I lose it, I'm out a whopping dollar. No big deal.

In the meantime, I want to build up a fan following so that whenever I do make the switch, it won't be as traumatic (re: people will know what the heck is going on).

Not sure I'd worry about the trademark thing - it's only a problem if it's a domain name that would lead people to believe that it's an official Toyota website, which yours obviously isn't.

Search the name of any company + "sucks" (ie: "paypal sucks") and you'll get plenty of "[company]sucks.com", "DontUse[company].com", "IHate[company].com domains - They're out there by the dozens and are perfectly safe, as no one would read those domain names and think they were official company sites.
