MacBook is a trademark. They cannot allow people to use a trademark belonging to someone else. It can land them and you in a lot of legal hot water.

You have a trademark in your domain—"macbook".

    9. Domain Names: You may not use an identical or virtually identical Apple trademark as a second level domain name.
    Not acceptable: “imac.com” “imacapple.com” “imac-apple.com” “podmart.com”

You see other people speeding on the highways too. That doesn't mean they won't pay a fine when caught.

Save yourself some time and start over now. If you use that domain, Apple's going to send you a cease & desist letter. If you don't follow it, you're going to be out a lot more than your $10 you spent on the domain.

Go back, find a new domain that doesn't have any trademarks in it, and try again.

Why would you even THINK about selling it to someone else when you know it will give them problems, and possibly a hefty fine? Just drop it, and move on.

Write this $11 experiment off as a failure and just get moving onto a better idea.

That is what's wrong with your domain name.

You're obviously not listening. What difference does it make if a hosting company "allows" you to host it? You're positioning yourself for legal problems if you use the domain in any way to profit. Do you not understand that?

        Winning isn't everything.

What is one small $10 victory compared to a major $$ loss through litigation?

As Gene has explained to you, including a trademark in your domain name is like playing russian roulette. Why gamble with trouble??

I hope you have very deep pockets and very good lawyers. The people whose legal rights you're so blatantly infringeing have a certain reputation for litigation to maintain, after all. It seems not to have occurred to you that the reason you can register domain-names like that so easily is that you can't use them?

Among the things that can and regularly do happen, when the trademark owner discovers such breaches of trademark, are:-
          • They can tell you take it down
          • They can take the domain from you
          • They can take from you any money you've ever made through the site
          • They can sue you for additional damages for flagrantly breaching their legal rights
Don't imagine that because "you're helping them to make sales" (as is often the case) they'll decide to be lenient. That isn't how it works. The point is that owning a trademark effectively confers obligations as well as rights on the holder: when it comes to trademark renewal time, if it can be shown that they've knowingly failed to protect their rights with regard to the trademark, that can be held against them. Some companies, for this reason, have the policy of pursuing all breaches of the trademark routinely and without reference to the motives/purposes/circumstances of the defendant.

And all that is the reason why it would also be wrong to sell it - because all of that applies to anyone who buys it from you, too.

I don't think they do. I'll give it a week before another thread comes up with this title:
