Squeeze then sell or squeeze then autorespond then sell?

I hear a lot of people here saying you should autorespond a lot to build trust after you squeeze, but I am confused if they are talking about info products or in general. I agree it makes sense for info products, but what if you have a site about a hobby like golf or photography, for example. Newbies to the hobby find your site, you squeeze them, doesn't it make sense to sell them the golf clubs or camera right after that before they go somewhere else? If you spend a month building a relationship they already bought their clubs or camera, no?

I am talking about AFTER YOU GET THE E-MAIL, auto-respond e-mails for a while or SELL!

Squeeze then auto respond then sell. As your email submit rate is going to be higher than your sales rate. So get the submit first before selling anything. Would you rather enter your email or your credit card number?

When I say autorespond I mean like the people who say to send out like 15 emails every day or so to your list before selling them something. Of course you squeeze first (that means you get an e-mail address).

Opinions differ, and ultimately you have to test for yourself.

In some niches, where you might lose them quickly, or they might well buy elsewhere, then this is very much a consideration. On the other hand, if you try to sell immediately, you can also lose many (as represented by a significant drop in open-rates for subsequent emails) who would have bought from/through you later, if you'd built more trust before the first promotion.

There isn't a "one size fits all" right answer, here.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Ideally I'd say opt-in, then offer, but not knowing more about your ideal customer and your long term goal for the leads, I can't really say.

I see it like this. You have em' opt-in, you offer em' something, then give them whatever incentive was promised in the first place. If they stay on, you're good to go! They're not scared away and they are very much aware you're likely to suggest something in the future. For those who weren't likely going to ever buy, they get off your list and you don't waste each other's time...but that's my thoughts in a "perfect" world.

Depends what type of people you have on your auto responder, if you have the type of people that are gonna just run away if you try to sell them something then you need to take it slow.... If you have a buying list then sure sell within your first 4/5 emails. Also if you are using aweber, it is better to have 10 buying contacts than 10,000 non responders as this will cost you!

Very simple: test and then test more and then test again.

If you try to sell cameras: give them instantly what they want like for example a comparison or a coupon and then sell right away.

You're first task when building a list should be to build a relationship with your subscribers. Doing so will allow you to earn their trust more, which will make them more likely to purchase the products that you recommend

Squeeze, then sell. They've just shown interest in what you have to offer, it's a good time to latch onto that interest and offer them something of even greater value. If they do not bite, that's ok, sell through autoresponder. If they do, then put them on another ar series that sells something else.

    Hi,

I get your thinking on this one as it is a question I have asked myself many times. I have seen it argued every which way so the point is, try what you feel is natural and see how it goes. Maybe try putting a link at the bottom or the top of a more personal message to see how they take it.

People are funny and you cannot absolutely control how they feel when they read your post. On some days they will be happy enough, on others they might reach for the unsubscribe for no apparent reason.
I suppose one other point is whether they arrive in your funnel through a sale or a squeeze without an upsell. If they haven't already bought of you, you need to build the trust for sure but if they already did buy, then some trust has been placed.

Anyway, good luck with your efforts.
