.XXX Domain Monetization

As you know, the .xxx domains were once *hot* for awhile when it first came out, but it is not looking too good recently?

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I haven't seen people talk about it much nor see any of them getting ranked in Google.

I gotta admit that I rushed for a few of them - but they are basically just sitting there waiting for me to pay for them again very soon in few months time.

What are your suggestions right now?

Would you suggest to add some value to it, and resell it at least more than how much it was bought?

If so, what are some quick tips to add values to it? Create simple porn affiliate blog? or? I don't know...

Else, would you suggest to give them some time, and you believe that the value will go up?

Regards,
Edward

Some people rushed to it, but most smart people didn't. Since they didn't get tempted by a new extension.

But if you should find some good ones(if you won't develop the domains) then something like dirty.xxx or hardcore.xxx, but most likely some of those have been taken.

But as such they don't hold much value. I personally thinks it looks silly and really unprofessional.

I'd let them expire honestly. I agree with PAP that they looked unprofessional even for an adult site. When I surf for porn, I'd like to feel comfortable about the site that I'm on. I'm already vulnerable for being on a mature site, and .xxx screams malware to me. Nah what I mean?

And I have no prejudice.. my blog is of mature content, and I'm also looking for a good way to monetize it, but as far as .xxx extension I would get rid of it. You might have an attachment to it, but it's not that popular, and search engines won't really take you seriously.

    Good luck man.

Well, I'm telling you guys I'm getting great uv on my .xxx

The reason we don't hear anything about .xxx is because all the best names are gone.

If you want to look at how bad the domain aftermarket is go and look on dnjournal

The new ".xxx" hype was short-lived...
These domains are only really valuable if they apply to the porn niche...
Example "sex.xxx" is really valuable where as "speakers.xxx" will hardly be worth anything.

So if the .xxx domain name applies to the niche, its valuable.

Install script like Adult PHP Tube Script, make some backlink to your site and flip it off after a month.

Even if all the "good names" have been taken, that certainly isn't helping the fact that hype around the extension has died down plenty. Most major sites that did buy one, are simply forwarding to their .com counterparts in one way or another.

These things cost a relative small fortune, whereas I can pick up a more popular .com for just $10 and some change. To me the "impact" of having a .xxx extension doesn't warrant the higher price versus going with a tried and true .com.

If your not monetizing already, let 'em drop.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

I felt to toss in my own opinions to this old thread.

I bought a few .XXX domains early on but due to the fact that I'm not in the adult niche, nor did I have interest in it I let them expire.

The domains were pretty dang good too but just not worth my time to try and sell or build and promote.

Anyways I think they can be valuable.. just not yet.
