How to get a refund from a digital product through paypal?

Hi anyone knows how to win a dispute with paypal from a wso seller especially it's a digital product.

Any advice will be appreciated as there are a lot of scams coaching ard here in WSO, hope someone will share some light on how to punish these guys from ripping off from warriors.

It seems paypal favor digital product owners, no protection for buyers.

SImple answer - you can't - this is where the scammers win in the short run!

In the long run, they will have their account shut down and the PayPal fraud team after them.

My advice which is what I do to pay for a digital product is to pay through PayPal using a Mastercard, if you have an issue a month or two down the line then you can charge back the amount, in the UK at least.

Then set the Mastercard fraud team after them - not even the worst scammer wants that

This. In the short run they win but in the long run they develop a bad reputation

How do you know OP isn't a scammer?

For all we know he bought the product, giving it away on black hat forums & trying to get a refund.

My point is scams work both ways & neither side would ever admit anything.

WHY ARE YOU ARGUING WITH SOMETHING POSTED IN 2012??? WHY???

This forum is becoming a morass of old threads bumped by spammers and picked up by experienced members who should notice this stuff. The number of old threads being bumped is ridiculous recently.

And, no - the topic is not still valid. The rules have changed drastically since then.

Personally, I was responding to misinformation that was posted the previous day (you can tell, because I quoted the relevant post). The fact that the OP is 2 years old is immaterial, if people (even spammers) are bumping the thread with current conversation.

Once it has been bumped, I think it is important to correct any misinformation that others may have posted, so that the misinformation is exposed/corrected.

          Just my 2 cents

This is 100% TRUE. I've been online for over a decade as a seller and have had more people try to scam as a buyer than I've ever been scammed by any seller. On a daily basis I get people sending me fake receipts saying they paid for the digital products trying to get a freebie, I get people that lie and say they joined trying to get login, I get people that once getting all the dowloads and membership access to everything they do a dispute and tell paypal it was an ebay transaction and they never received item. It never ends. I personally think there are just as many if not more buyer scammers trying to get a freebie than there are sellers. Sellers have to worry about their merchant account and business rep, so it's much harder to get away with anything but buyers get to play "victim" and then go cry to their bank "Unauthorized" which is another common thing they tend to do even after you have proof of their signature, IP and have tracked their real identity. Even when you know it's really them, they still do this and people online teach them how to scam companies. It's one of the biggest hypocrisies online today.

Contact PayPal directly. If you have a valid claim Pay Pal will sometimes stand behind you. It can take 3 weeks or longer once you have opened a dispute. Just make sure you can back your claim and provide good details on why you are asking for a refund.

Unfortunately it seems paypal doesn't honor that. In less than 10 mins after submission to a dispute, it favours the seller. Reason: it's a digital product and they don;t work on dispute for it. But they say they monitor against the number of complaints against a seller.

It seems this policy really encourages scammers come on board to steal from people.

It's such a shame that you've been scammed but there is little that you can do, other than to report your concerns to PayPal so that they can stop it happening to your fellow IM's

Sorry to hear whats happened Seminars 82.

I know its a bit late now but if you do kick up enough of a stink you will get your money back. Hell would have to freeze over before I give up. I once many years ago purchased a CB product and after payment was taken there was a further 4 up'sells straight after my payment! I spent well over $400. At the time I thought might as well purcahse the whole thing and try and learn something...I did !Let me tell you I went "Hawaiian" with this snot snorting, insignificant, knicker snapping, po-faced, snot gobbling, IQ of a retarded plant waste of human dna. Caveat emptor !

If they refunded them, it would encourage refund scammers and people would be complaining.

If it's a WSO, did it offer a refund? If not, you knew when you purchased. If it did and the seller wont refund, report it to the mods and comment in the WSO thread.

It is very difficult to get a refund on a digital product. I lost over
$300. To a well known guru who was selling a hyped up version of a
Product I had gotten years ago. Basicly the same thing.
    Paypal sided with him.

PayPal doesn't offer a protection for buyers when they purchase a digital products. It is clearly mentioned in their policies page. If you have used your credit card to pay via PayPal, then logged a charge with your Credit Card Company.

You can't! That's the hard fact! I have been scammed twice. But have never filed dispute for a digital product, because I know Paypal won't help. Lesson learnt - Always buy from reputed people and check whether the product applies to current trends even if it comes from reputed people.

PayPal is not going side with you for a digital product. Honestly when you think about how could they. There is no tracking or physical chain of custody to prove or disprove if you received your purchase, also if you did get your purchase you cant give it back. If PayPal let people win disputes for digital products there would be HUGE amounts of fraud and abuse.

What you can do is make sure you are within the sellers refund period / policy (if they have one) and then request a refund from them. If they refuse to honor their policy then take it as a lesson learned and never buy from that seller again.

That doesn't seem to be a problem for Clickbank. They issue refunds for digital products all the time, usually with no questions asked.

      The "secret" apparently is this...

As of the beginning of July 2015 (just over a month ago) Paypal DOES provide buyer protection on purchase of digital goods.

Not much of a secret, but apparently not everyone got the email.

If you're not going to tell us, there's no point posting it. Unless, you just want to let everyone know how better you are at this than the rest. Uhm, okay then.
