:confused::confused: I am struggling to give up my old online selling biz and move to amazon or clickbank affiliate. Do you think it is easy to make $3500/monthly? :p
(BTW, I am familiar with web site building and SEO. )

Which one do you think is better? Amazon or ClickBank?

Which one is better? E-Books & Dvds or Clothing & Shoes?

Anybody help out? Thanks a lot!

What's up mike, $3,500 per month is very possible. I recommend finding a system that can help you get there, and is already proven to work.

Have you ever checked out the complete websites for sale section in the warriorforum? A lot of value there if your thinking about creating a sustainable affiliate business.

Hi Mike, please don't take this the wrong way but from your OP it seems to me that you're a long way away from earning $3,500 a month. It's certainly possible but it's definitely not easy. You need to get clarity about what you're looking to achieve online, what your strengths are, what experience you have, do you have anything else apart from SEO type experience which i am personally not a fan of?

Once we know a bit more or indeed a lot more info then we can proceed from there.

I'm sure there are lots of people out there making more than that.

However, I think they are in the minority (1-2%)

From what I have observed less then 1% can do it, I think 2% is not posible. Just my 2 cents.

What else do you think is much more effective than SEO?

      Mike,

I agree with what Joel says.

You need more clarity as to your goals and why you want to switch over to affiliate marketing. (nothing wrong with switching, but the post sounded like you were replacing one with the other)

What, specifically, were you selling online and why do you want to get out of that business?

Often, we think the "grass is greener on the other side" only to find out that that other side has its own set of new challenges and different skills needed to make it work.

If you already have success with online sales, why not keep that business going and simply add to it?

In answer to your question - can you make $3,500 a mo in affiliate marketing - of course you can - but the more important question is: "Given your current knowledge / experience in affiliate marketing, how SOON can you make $3,500 a mo?"

That's a question only you can answer because it depends on your knowledge / experience on the subject.

If you have NO experience, it could take months or it could take years, depending on how intensely you work at it.

The money part is very possible. As to which is better -- Clickbank or Amazon -- there is no right answer. I mean, digital-info networks pay better because there's less overhead they pass along to the affiliate in contrast to physical products, but whether you promote digital or physical products also depends on what niche you're in. Some favor one or the other while others have both physical and digital product offerings.

Making $3500 per month online is simple, not easy. Find a common need that isn't being fulfilled, Find a solution to that problem or need, Profit. Making money online basically boils down to those 3 steps

Stick with it, and put in the work, and you'll see your revenue increasing month on month/week on week.

Don't expect it to happen over-night, but who knows, if you find the right technique and fine-tune it, you could be making well over that.

    Best of luck!

    Mike -

Traditional website SEO will make you go crazy IMO.

Google algo changes combined with manual reviews and their attempts to monetize everything themselves gives it a tough playing ground these days.

However, if you know a few basics about SEO, I've found that doing these types of off page SEO (back linking) practices to video will rank you easily.

That $3500 mark can easily be achieved by doing nothing but video marking.

    Why do I know this?

Because I make well over that amount with video marketing alone.

Both. You need to have multiple income streams. The best business model is to make money off amazon, clickbank, adsense, and commission junction. If you can make 3,500 a month between them all you will he safe. If one of those income streams dwindles then it's not such a big hit. If you only target one of them and say your account gets banned or Google slaps one of your sites, what would you do then?

That is very achievable. I am not saying you will earn that much on your first week out or even first month or two out. However, if you keep your eyes focused on your goal and you continue to make progress daily, you'll get there sooner than if you just sat on your hands and done nothing.

People are earning more than $3,500 per month and it's possible if you know how to make. Amazon can give you good revenue if you capitalize your skill. But, if you are with internet marketing for long days, you know, you have to wait and work hard to get the flow first. When you will get a customer base, then you can get that easily. Which one need to be sold, should be decided by you depending one your selected niche.

I'd say Amazon is much easier if you do it right. Some people make good money with CB but most make none, but anyone can make money from Amazon if you just do it right.

Amazon products should be over $50, not too big or heavy, and items that you can't get at the local Walmart. Then just write a detailed report on each product, summarising what real customers have said, pointing to specific alternatives which solve every problem a customer mentions about the peoduct. Do that, and effective on-page and off-page SEO, and you'll make money for sure.

    Chris

Sorry....you got to think bigger than that. If you think $3,500 is a lot how will you ever try to reach for $100k+ a month?

I know people who make $5m+ per annum. And they want more. :-)
Anyone I know ? (besides your traditional IM gurus)

      Hey, I'd be pretty happy with $3.5k/mo (that's $42k/yr).
that is, until I reach that level, then I'd start dreaming for more, for the next milestone...
But if you start right off the bat dreaming of $10M/mo, and only manage to make $100/mo your first month, then that would be pretty dissapointing and I'd probably give up. So dreaming small in the beginning is better, I believe. Then grow your dreams as your paycheck grows ... keep your dreams in sync with your current paychecks...

Without getting too platform specific (because I believe you could be successful in either CB or AZ-land) I would say that a lot depends on:
1- what problem are you solving (cancer or a morning cold)
2- what other alternatives does your prospect have (are you the only water-distributor in the middle of the desert, or a firewood seller in the middle of the forest)

Also, there are many implementations of the same service, so your own implementation matters: how many book-sellers were there before Amazon came into being? They were not the first seller of books online either. Yet they came with their own implementation of an online book-store, and got to #1. I guess my point is: are you just a "mee too"? Or do you have something unique which can differentiate yourself from the rest - or: why is your caramel-tasting carbonated water better than the other guy? Because it's packaged in white+red color and named "Coke"? (if it is, that might work for you)

Nothing is impossible. It would take a bit of time and a lot of effort to earn that much. 97% of affiliate marketers earn less than $300 per month. I suggest you do something like email marketing by building your email list as it would be the most effective way of getting people to buy your product. I would like to repeat that most people have these skills, it's just that most people give up when they're not successful. Just keep at it and there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

$3500 a month is possible but improbable if you do not know the right techniques to drive traffic and monetize your site/s. You've been online before and this may be the biggest hurdle that you face. While you do need to work hard you cannot get results unless you work smart.

If you know how to drive traffic and monetize sites both Amazon and Clickbank are equally good. E-Books, dvds, clothing, shoes....all of them are good products to sell if you get lots of visitors coming to your site. Amazon would not list those items online on their site if those items don't sell!

The primary difference between Clickbank and Amazon is that of digital and physical products respectively. You can earn from both with a number of review sites and in the case of Amazon, with Amazon stores of your own. While Clickbank gives higher commission, Amazon has a larger number of shoppers visiting their site.

Once you learn how to drive traffic and monetize your website, you will have success that you can duplicate to scale up with several websites and increase your earnings.

Dreaming of making a huge amount is not a Big Deal, the Big Deal is how you use the skills to reach your set target. It is the same market where someone makes zero and several others are Hero.

So, you have to en-cash the potential that are hidden in any program you are joining. You have to set up the best strategy to rule a market, else you will end up your days making pennies.

And one more thing, don't just give up your old business as it will definitely effect your inner self confidence, it is better to learn how to take advantage of your existing business to promote or make profit from your new program.

Yes that is possible for sure, but I would not recommend thin affiliate review sites that are only a handful of pages just targeting a product name keyword as they are always susceptable to Google changes.

I would just focus on getting your daily email subscriber count up there and promoting affiliate products to that list.

Information products work well for that.

I like to promote high ticket items and items with a monthly recurring commission, which for me is so much easier to build up decent monthly earnings by making a few sales than having to sell a high quantity of Clickbank ebooks each and every day.

So yes, I would focus on doing marketing that gets traffic and builds an email list. And if it is SEO traffic, then I think writing lots of content for longtail keywords rather than trying to rank one page for one keyword is the way to go.

Video marketing as suggested by PaulV above is also working well for me in terms of YouTube internal traffic and traffic from the Google search.

      Good luck!

Positives --> You have a clear goal , thats 90% more than the rest.

Now write the number down and write down the things u know , can learn and like to do , while doing that you can offer services on fiverr etc to make sure the $$ xcomes in even if trickling in initially and then work on one system repeatedly and better it... having $$ goal is good, but you do have to add skills and knowledge goal which will help you get there faster.. liek core skills, a.k.a a bit of copywriting, product creation etc..

    Hello, Mike.

When it comes to online income generation, your income is really only limited to what you are capable of. It is by no means easy to achieve 3,500$ per month in online income, and if it is, it is likely not going to be an income that will be around for very long.

Affiliate marketing is an excellent path to take. I don't believe there is an either or type of answer to your question. I do believe that selling physical products as an affiliate ( amazon associates) can be easier than selling information products. If you are just getting started, I recommend that you break into physical products.

You should start a large website and grow its reach and authority. Once you have a strong online asset, in the form of an authoritive website, you can begin to monetize it however you wish. You can refer your readers to physical or information products, but make sure to choose products that are relevant, and will help your readers. Good luck with your decision.

    Oliver

Possible? Well, pretty much anything is possible. Is it doable? Now, that is another question. It greatly depends on your skill set, initial knowledge, connections and lots of other factors. If you are just starting out in internet marketing and have no prior business knowledge and do not have your own unique service or product then I would say earning $3500 a month within first months of starting is unlikely. However, with enough dedication and effort this can become a realistic sum even for you. Do not expect miracles, though!
