3 simple methods to get traffic to your website

There are probably hundreds of different methods of targeting traffic to your website but as they say the old ones are the best and often the easiest as they don't require huge amounts of technical know how

1. Article Marketing

This is my favourite as I love writing and with 15 minutes a day you can literally triple your traffic in a week. Write an article which will have impact, 500 -650 words is the sweet spot Make sure it is an article that will add real value and then post it to blog networks by using using article marketing
software such as:

a. Uniquearticlewizard.com
b. Seolinkvine.com
c. Submityourarticle.com
Obviously make sure you include a call to action which drives traffic to your site

Social Media

Attracting traffic with social sites is a powerful strategy
that can uplift your traffic. The best social sites are:

a. Digg.com
b. Twitter.com
c. Stumbleupon.com
d. Facebook.com

Again this is easy but you need to submit high quality posts that will attract traffic and generate leads for your business.

Press Releases

Don't get scared whilst it may seem daunting there is now easy ways to get this done. This is a really important method that many business neglect, our friends at Google really give weight to authority
sites such as news sites.
Best tools for this are
PRWEB.COM
Bizwire.com

The best advice I was ever given , was all traffic techniques work but don't try them all at once until you have mastered at least one. i.e. pick one of the simple 3 above, the one that fits your personality and ability best. Generate at 1000 visitors a month from that method and then move on to the others. Don't be a jack of all trades, master one!!

Yes... Article marketing for SEO is dead. But, you can still get a much reduced amount of traffic with good quality, well written articles.

However, I agree, there's better ways to spend your time and money.

It's not right for everyone that's true but it certainly still works for me. Article marketing gives a short term boost to your traffic, you have to do it consistently if you want the traffic to remain. As I said however it's not about one method, it's about mastering a method and moving on. As you all it's not an exact science, it's about doing what works for you and I think the list is a good start for newbies.

Are you capturing leads with that traffic that you are getting from article marketing? If you are not, then you are leaving loads of money on the table for your competitors to grab. If you do grab leads, then eventually you don't have to write so many articles. You would just have to send an e-mail out and you would get instant traffic.

Is nobody here into video marketing? you are missing out big!

YouTube is the second largest search engine, at least the last time I heard.

It is far easier to rank a video on YouTube than a webpage. It takes much more effort to rank an article than a video. It converts better because of the visual effect, hence better warm up or presell.

I understand that not everybody is comfortable getting into video marketing, but then most people start out that way. And there are other ways to go about it.

    Cheers!

Completely agree! Video marketing is a huge thing these days. People don't have the time (or patience) to sit and read anymore; they want visuals.
Smart companies should definitely consider video as a marketing outlet.

Good advice, however articles directories got a huge fall on traffic after the last Google's Zoo attack, but your'e right on one thing, the more articles you submit the more drip traffic you will get (a numbers game).

Digg, and stumbleupon lost their power too, and don't get me wrong there still a traffic source in there but not the way it used to be.

Press Releases on the other hand is still a great way to drive traffic.

Don't miss video marketing leveraging the power of youtube and vimeo submiting short 1 - 2 minutes videos with a powerful call to action to your site is a great way to flown your offer with traffic.

Document sharing is another good source of traffic.

And today's popular site is Pinterest and boy how good traffic plug is!

In IM World you have to always stay at the top of the wave, and do what others do but not the way they all do it. Sometimes you need to reinvent yourself when some traffic sources are outdated, you can see a big spike in your traffic if you do so.

C'mon guys. It's very easy to just start a thread saying article, social marketing are good traffic sources. This is hardly news to even the new people to this industry. If you're going to post about these traffic methods, at least give some strategies that you are using. This way you are actually trying to help people.

I'm not slating the thread, but let's be bloody honest here, there have been hundreds of these threads started and it's just not helping people. You could have just named every traffic generation source here that works... but they all work, so what's the point.

    Just saying

It seems to me that all these threads stay put on this forum, and yet I have seen threads that actually provide valuable knowledge get deleted. It's getting ridiculous at this stage.

Niceness - I totally agree. I tried article marketing a couple of time last month and got very poor results - much better for newbies to concentrate on lots of good, optimised content and building quality backlinks (the latter is the only reason why i would write an article). Content and backlinks got me 1000 visitors last month as a newbie from scratch - 2 articles got me the grand total of 1 visitor!! No visitors at all from my ezine article which was on a really great topic and keyword optimised. The only 1 visitor I got was from a squidoo lens.

As a side note. I would consider guest posting. If you are going to write articles, take the time to have them posted on a popular blog. This way you get a good link and a way to get traffic to your site. One way of doing this is writing an interesting article that is in 2 parts. the first part would be on the guest blog. Then the readers would have to go to your blog to get the second part. Then of course capture their e-mail address in the second post.

Yes, as Google logic goes, anything spammy linking to you is detrimental for your site. Go figure! If Ezinearticles is considered a content farm, then a link from that site can actually harm your site's authority and reputation. You don't want to hang out with the "wrong guys", right?

Good advice. One thing though - most of you guys are stating that article marketing is dead,

ie; taking the time to carefully write an article, 800 or 1000 words, submitting to an article directory and hoping visitors will pour in through the link at the bottom of the article.

I can see that this is the case, that article marketing is dead.

But is it truly dead, or is this just opinion?

Article marketing is the oldest but the best technique, I think. I am still relying on this. Social media has become the most crucial place for attracting direct traffic as well. In this position I have little disagreement with you. I don't think that digg at present is good enough to get the first place in your list.

While I genuinely love to write, article writing for the whole purpose of submitting them to all kinds of directories always seemed like a complete PITA to me. It downright makes my eyes glaze over. Pinterest on the other hand seems quite effective at the moment.

But the bottom line is always, what is the quality of the traffic you are getting, and, most importantly, what do you have to offer on the other end?

Actually, article marketing is not dead like I just saw someone wrote. Actually, you can make it traffic wise with article marketing if you do it the right way.

And video marketing, Youtube in particular it the best traffic method right now. I think any one looking at getting tons of traffic should look more into youtube video marketing.

Nowadays, I get about580-860 unique visits each day totally in my absence - on autopilot. This is a very great turn in traffic - about 25,000 unique visits each month on autopilot!

I'm a HUGE fan of Press Release syndication myself. I use a list of free ones and usually just outsource the submission for a few bucks

I have not checked these ALL in a while, but last I did check they were all free. Use ODesk and give somebody this list - it'll cost you $2-$3.00 to have them submit them all

JUST submitting to these FREE sites can often get your link picked up by 300---3,000 different PR sites and niche blogs

These are all 100% FREE and won't cost you a DIME to submit to

You might get the traffic, but in order to keep them coming back, to keep the momentum going you need to offer up useful content. This is why article writing, curating and sharing are still important. There will always be a need for good articles and this should be the 1st traffic generating technique that should be mastered.

This. Written content including articles has generated highly convertible "traffic" for marketers long before the internet, and is becoming ever more relevent as it evolves. Abusing words for SEO is becoming less effective.

We've built (and continue to build) businesses online and here is the technique we use

    1. Start with a blog...there is no better (no cost, no risk) way to build traffic to your website...we can easily get to 100+ visitors/day with 1-2 weeks using blogging - the purpose is to begin immediately testing conversions/effectiveness. If I get good conversions, I quickly expand to these other methods. If conversions are too low, I work on conversions FIRST and then move to the next steps

    2. Affiliate marketing (assuming you have your own product) - I bring on some initial affiliates in a "trial" mode (based on getting my conversions to a satisfactory level). We work hard on affiliate campaigns which builds traffic, sales and momentum into a frenzy

    3. Paid advertising...once you have done 1&2 you know your conversions, you know your costs so you know what your threshold for buying traffic is...then you can really scale your traffic into 1000's per day

    4. Article marketing/video marketing/Press releases we do also use to help add juice to #1 getting higher rankings for our blog and landing pages - over time this is evolving to include social networking...a back link from Twitter, Facebook, etc...helps as much as articles, PR, etc... in the past.

That's how you generate traffic AND sales...it really works, give it a try.

    Jeff

that can uplift your traffic.

Yeah, because the 500 Million + people who are on facebook NEVER buy anything online - nor do they care about their friends recommendations.

You keep thinking that way while I keep bringing in my FB targeted affiliate payments!

The easiest way to drive traffic to a website is by good old fashioned Newspaper Classified ads which says, go to this website for your free report... A free report is a sales page, and at the bottom of that sales page is a link that says, give me your money, and while you are here on my thank you page, people that bought this also bought this $97.00 Continuity month, after month after month $97 membership site in to your clickbank account CaChing!!!!!!! Why do marketers make this so simple Internet Marketing Business such a chore i.e: hard work!!

    Hey, Hakeemad.

There are so many different ways to drive traffic to a website that it really is limitless. Traffic generation is only bound by your imagination and you resources. Personally, I agree that the 'old fashioned' ways of driving traffic are indeed powerful. I like to use blog commenting, guest posting, social media and even forum participation.

I believe the kindle platform is another great way to generate more exposure for your website/brand. You can publish helpful content that will generate more exposure for your website/brand, by offering your helpful books for free on the kindle platform. I do agree that press releases can still be an OK way to drive more exposure to your website.

Video marketing might be the next best thing after article directories as big as ehow have been penalized by google. Social media provided that you are into organic followers which will be more useful when it comes to your site traffic. However, I think solid relevant content is still the best way to go.

Great tips you have here. However, you might also want to consider familiarizing yourself with the new Google update. If you want to get traffic for your website and rank high in Google, stick by their rules, or your business will go down the drain.
