I just purchased a website which is written entirely in flash coding and am considering getting it re-written into html code.

Would this be worth doing as I have heard that Google is not able to read flash code. Google can only read html code is this correct?

Would appreciated anyones point of view with examples if possible.

Thanks

Tim.

    Hi Tim,

It depends how the Flash website was coded... if you know what you are doing, you can SEO a Flash site just as well as an HTML site. If you use variables within the flash actionscript, any search engine can read the text/links/content within your flash site.

This is a common misconception that SE's can't read flash sites... they can if the flash app/website was built properly.

If you don't know whether your flash site was coded properly for the SE's to read, or if you don't know how to update your flash site to be SEO'd, then I would suggest having it converted to a traditional HTML site.
