Hi,

I have just spent 16 hours straight trying to get an rss feed to display on my web page. I can make it work by running a script, but that has the big disadvantage that Google spiders cannot read it and hence it will give no SEO advantage.

I have tried to incorporate a .php code but can't get it to display. I have modified the .htaccess file many times with all the variants I could find.

There is no sign of Apache handlers on the GoDaddy control panel that I have.

I tried Carp but wasted hours with it - the Carp forum has 2 years of unanswered queries.

Does anyone know a simple way to make a search engine readable rss display on an html page?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Robert

I just asked the same question in the webdesign section, with no answer yet. I'm glad you just mentioned the problems with carp, as was about to I try it.

I've been fooling around with this for the last hour or two with no luck. Maybe you will be able to figure it out? They have a free version that should work, I think:

Create RSS Feeds, Edit and Publish News Feeds with Software

If you still need RSS help, I believe Warrior Judith Tramayne (check the spelling, sorry) is a guru in this topic.

      Good luck,

      A.

    Update

I had a try with SimplePie but I must really be a simpleton because I couldn't get it to work. I'm really surprised that there isn't a super easy way to show RSS on a page in a search engine friendly way. There must be big commercial potential for an idiot-proof application to do this.

Still looking for help, any suggestions appreciated.

    Hi Robert,

The simplest way I've found to add RSS feeds which can be read by the search engines is just by changing the handlers and making the php appear in html pages.

But there was one problem I found it was that there is a slight dfference in what you should use for php 4 and php 5.

Have you tried asking GoDaddy support if they can confirm you're using the correct handler for your php version?
