Need to increase income, lots of spare time, need some advice!

I know you must be getting tired of these kinds of threads by now, but I have been unable to come to a decision myself, so I have decided to look here for some help.

So, my question. In three months time my expenditure will increase by about £150 a month, and I currently just can't afford that. There's no chance of me getting another job, and there is no way for me to earn more money from my current job. The good side here is that I do have a lot of spare time on my hands now. I only work a couple of hours on my primary job, which usually leaves me with at least 8-10 spare hours a day.

So, a bit about me. I have been slightly involved in IM for a long time. Always reading these forums, helping family and friends rank their websites higher in Google. And a couple of months ago I even took a small dive and created my own small Local Niche wordpress website. In about 3 months I have been able to get rank one for my main keywords, and page one for all my secondary keywords. All from backlinking and good content. The only problem is that I have been unable to successfully monetize the website.

So, I feel I now have the ability and motivation to really dive into IM. The only problem is, where do I dive in? My local niche website, although a successful test, has been unsuccessful at being able to bring me extra income. Now I only have 3 months before things get tight, so I need my next test to be a bit more successful. Could anyone offer me any advice?

So just to clarify. Not looking for any "Get rich quick" advice. Just looking for some pointers on how to slightly increase my income from putting in a LOT of effort. Also it needs to be scalable. No being stuck spending my whole life being somebody else's article writer.

Will be very grateful for any advice given.

Thanks

Have you put amazon links or adsense on your sites? and depending on your niche you could use some clickbank products. The only things is it will be a couple of weeks before you get paid.

    Thanks

Sadly its not the kind of niche where I can advertise any clickbank or amazon products. And although I do have a few google ads very well placed, the CTR is very very low.

Bob gave you a great piece of advice that you can follow if you know how to write/have a budget for a writer: create your own product. Any niche can be monetized if you know how to think creatively and can identify what your readership wants/needs.

Its a good idea, except my niche doesn't work like that. The only information people need they can already get for free. And the only other subject I feel I have any extensive knowledge about is IM. But I wouldn't feel comfortable making a product from my knowledge of that, as that I only have knowledge, and not any real experience.

          Thanks for the advice guys

        • Create your own product, build a sales funnel, blah blah blah. This guy's only got 3 months and he needs a high probability of success.

You're asking a lot when you say he should spend that time creating a product, when he's never created a product before.

OP, if you have a lot of time on your hands, look into microjobs. I don't know what's available in the U.K. but here in the U.S. there are lots of choices.

For those who have an iPhone, there's EasyShift, GigWalk, Zaarly and a host of others. I use EasyShift, which is a real-time intelligence tool for retailers. I get paid within 24 hours for my work.

If there are no phone microjobs available or for some reason you're house-bound, there's always Fiverr. *Not* as an article writer, mind you. But something like this:

Speed demon: Speedwriting gets you eyeballs (VIDEO)

Illustration is something that can be learned. You don't have to have any particular art talent.

I do not know enough about anything to really be giving other people advice, let alone charging them money for it. The only thing I have any real knowledge in is IM. And not only is that a very over saturated market, I have almost no experience, so I would not be able to back up my knowledge.

          Thanks for the advice guys.

You mean you can't think of any way to monetize it, not that your niche doesn't work like that.

<shrug> Not gonna change the signature for one post. The advice is valid. I don't earn anything by writing about EasyShift, for example; there's no affiliate program. Fiverr doesn't have one, either.

If I were looking to do a hit-and-run on the WF, I'd pretend to be a 20-something hottie, ask for help on a different major topic every few days to get all the guys falling over each other to assist and hope nobody notices that I'm really a 40 year old guy trying to sell his product.

Not that that ever happens, of course.

The problem is, there is nothing that I am really knowledgeable in. And I wouldn't be comfortable just giving advice to people on something I am not an expert in, let alone selling it. Why not create an infoproduct? Write a helpful report on something you have a bit of knowledge on or can research, put it on clickbank. Find blogs that have the kind of targeted traffic you want and offer the blog author a split commission on the product if they advertise it.

Why not set up a personal blog, you will be able to monetize that in various ways, affiliate products from Clickbank, Amazon etc. You may not get megabucks, but you should be able to drip feed a little more income, plus you can put adsense ads on the blog too.

Good, you've only wasted 3 months of your valuable time where I have wasted 12 months doing the exact same thing. This is just my opinion but what about ditching the SEO aspect for now and focus on creating cash first. Motivation lasts only so long in this business and one of the reasons many fail is because their motivation to continue gets smacked out of them.

So, since the SEO route takes time. Why not create a personal blog where you can brand your expertise in the niche you're focusing on. Create a info product like Bob mentioned above and put it onto a lead capture page as a freebie for that all important email address.

Spend your valuable time using social, article, forum, video, offline and any other direct traffic generating strategy to send targeted visitors to that lead capture page. Guest posting and press releases are very effective traffic generating strategies if done properly.

You should be able to generate 20 leads a day into your funnel after a month or so with consistent action. If you have cash to invest, you can also use paid strategies to gain momentum Send your subscribers to your personal blog where you build a relationship with them and can promote other products related to that niche. You can create another product to sell if there are no aff ones on clickbank.

In the midst of all this you can write articles on your personal blog and rank them in the serps, but as you know this takes time and that's why it's important to generate leads as quickly as possible with direct traffic methods. Remember, building that list is essential and 80% of your time should be used to generate targeted leads into your business on a DAILY basis.

Create a couple of short videos for your subscribers so they can get to know who you are. People rarely buy from faceless websites. You need to build that all important trust. Either make a video with your face on it, or, if you're really ugly, create a screen recorded video where they can at least hear your voice and connect with a personality. Your subs want to know that there's a real person they are connecting with. If they're going to buy from you, they have to know there's not a masked man in a striped jumper behind the screen ready to run with their hard earned cash.

Building your own personal website and creating videos of yourself is very important for branding. Instead of reading eBook after eBook on affiliate marketing, invest some time reading "marketing, copywriting and motivational material" too.

Listen, I could go on and on here but you get my point, yes?

    Hi Ben,

How about getting a few books up on Kindle? I have 6 books on Kindle and they bring in about $1000 a month (approx - it varies month to month). I have bought many WSO's on how to succeed with Kindle (there are some very good ones available) but here is my advice in a nutshell:

    1. Find a topic where people have a problem they need to solve.
    2. Write a How To book on that topic. It can just be 30-40 pages. Give really good advice, don't hold anything back.
    3. Get your cover done on Fiverr. I use a guy named Nisha.
    4. You can download MobiPocket Creator to format your Kindle book but sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn't. For that reason, I also recommend a gal on fiverr named "around86"
    5. Upload your Kindle book at 99 cents and ask your friends and family to buy it and give you a review. Aim for 5 reviews. Also ask them to "like" it and tag it with appropriate tags.
    6. After you have 5 reviews, up your price to $2.99 or more. Play with the pricing and see what works. Cheaper is not always better.
    7. Join forums and get busy making friends with other Kindle authors.
    8. Set up your Author page on Amazon.
    9. Get a book trailer video made on fiverr and upload it to youtube. In the video description, the first thing should be the link to your book on Amazon

Then lather, rinse, repeat with more books!

I hope this helps. I know it sounds like an enormous amount of work but once it's done, it's done, and you get a lovely check from Amazon every month. It's like Christmas to me!

Feel free to PM me if you need any help.

    Cheers,

Since you have the knowledge of Internet Marketing, you might want to look into niches that interest you / you have passion in.
Most importantly, there should be a certain demand for it in order for you to make money. It is critical to focus on products that have potential to expand over time.
Create your own list of subscribers. Some marketing methods such as email marketing, blog marketing, article marketing are some tools to increase your lists size.
Just my two cents Hope it helps.

There is a lot of money to be made in local niches. Just make a website, rank it, and rant it to the relevant person, or a business.

I suggest start by looking at a niche that interests you... do you want something automated or are you looking for something you have to work at? Both make money, but there are many offers here on WF that can either help setup your online business while others can give you the tools to help with your existing business.

But with all the offers I admit, it is very hard to find one that can help you do both. Best of luck, don't give up

  • I would sell services for now that is the fastest way to generate quick 150 then after that start doing some affiliate marketing and make some info products or membership. If you don't have content make it by interviewing other experts and put it in a member area and start selling the member access. there are tons of ideas on this forum and the one thing you have is time, so you can do it, just focus and work hard and get better at it.

    Good luck!

Start selling your SEO services for cash flow. After that create an info product teaching how you rank your local sites and launch it on JVnotifypro, Clickbank, Clicksure or other JV/affiliate network.

P.S. Sell advertising space on your site!

P.P.S. If you're getting traffic to your sites and you need money asap, then sell it on Flippa

It is hard to tell you anything that isn't the most rehashed information ever, but..

You can try Fiverr, perform a 10-15 min service.

        Find people on craigslist.

Offer a quick service on e-bay (I did this many years ago, but looks like people are still doing it) but I think this will be a dry-well, and even if it yields earnings it might be small.

        Cold calling / personal meetings;

Also, what larry1113 said, that is the key!
