Obtained an email list, what to do with it?

Hey fellow Warriors. I have recently obtained a big e-mail list (quite focused to an extent, they're all from the same country and some are even categorized under states, gender etc.) however they are not from subscriber's list.
I am wondering are there any options to earn from this huge list?

I could really use some suggestions

Thanks!

If I was you I would send them to a squeeze page and try get them to actually double opt-in to one of your lists.

Infact, I would probably just discard it.

Mailing people that haven't actually given you permission to do so, is often frowned upon and not the type of thing that you want to associate with your business brand.

You can get into some trouble these days by spamming people who have not opted into your list. I wouldn't think it would be worth it.

Starting a second thread won't make the advice from your previous thread any different.

Since I am unable to post the link to the other thread, I will just quote my response:

Personally, I would just throw it in the trash bin. It is unlikely that you will find much success with it in terms of conversions and very likely that you will receive exceedingly high spam reports if you do mail out to it.

When you "obtained" it, do you question how the people were placed on the lists? Were they scraped through black hat methods? If so, throw it away. Now.

If they were indeed "obtained" through double opt-in techniques, I still doubt it is worth your time trying to build any type of relationship with them.

This, of course, is just my two cents after spending the last couple years building responsive niche lists in the self-help area.

Almost everyone will get ticked when they receive spam. It'd be pretty easy to report your web site and have it shut down. Not worth the trouble, imo.

My advice to you here would be to take the list and delete it/chuck it in the garbage. Apart from the isssues of needing double opt in subscribers to avoid spamming, you won't benefit from contacting them in the long run. Think about it, if you were in their shoes and on that list and someone contacted you out of the blue your first reaction would be who is this? Your second may be to delete it or to report it. All you need is a few people to report you from that "huge list" and your reputation will be in tatters.
