  • Hello Alamar!

    Basically, marketers use YouTube for 2 purposes:

    1. To bypass the usual routine of having to rank a website, as YouTube videos are easier to rank; and

    2. To create backlinks for their websites.

    The first purpose requires a high quality video that will be able to convert, as a lot of marketing efforts will be focused on making one particular video rank for specific keywords or key phrases.

    The second is merely a numbers game. The more videos you upload with links on the description box directing to your site - regardless of the quality of the video - the more backlinks you'll have.

    If you're pursuing the second purpose mentioned above, automated video creation services such as Animoto - Video Slideshow Maker with Music, FlixTime - Video Slideshows made easy!, Stupeflix - Make video slideshows with photos, music, and if your niche calls for it, Make a Video. Amazing Animated Video Maker - GoAnimate. and Storytelling | Xtranormal will be sufficient. Animoto and Flixtime will allow free 30 second creations. Goanimate and Xtranormal will give you a specific number of "tokens" that should be enough for one nice video, though you have the option to purchase more.

    Be wary, though, that mass producing videos which provide no value to YouTube users can potentially get your account banned. This is the risk that marketers who choose this route have to live with.

    Pursuing the first purpose, on the other hand, will require you to upload a solid, quality video, preferably with the chance of garnering the much sought after "viral effect." Such a video should be professional enough to establish your business as a credible entity, and informative enough to make your viewers want to know more about what you can offer so that they'll be compelled to click on your link. Quality over quantity is the philosophy here, as you will want this video to appear on the first page of search results for your targeted keyword, and you want the people who will view it to actually want to visit your website.

    Optimizing a video is your usual SEO fare. Keyword selection is critical, and the chosen keywords or key phrases must be used on:

    1. The title;
    2. The description box; and
    3. The tags for the video.

    Now, getting a video to rank is a little bit trickier, mainly because no one knows the exact science to it.

    Many marketers, however, have observed that the following factors contribute to getting a particular video to the first page for relevant search engine queries:

    1. Number of views;
    2. Number of comments;
    3. Number of likes, though "thumbs down" votes are immaterial;
    4. Number of times the video is shared within YouTube;
    5. Number of times the video is embedded on different websites;
    6. Number of backlinks for the video; and
    7. Number of social media links for the video.

    Though organically achieving these is ideal, videos rarely become viral. Hence, many marketers "cheat." They go to Fiverr and get the fulfillment services they need. Just check out that site and search for "increase youtube views," "youtube likes," "youtube subscriptions, "youtube comments," "backlink service," "social media linking," etc. Be forewarned, however, that many service providers there use automated software, and YouTube has since wisened up to these methods and have started banning accounts which they deem as having used these tactics.

    Again, account cancellation is a risk you have to deal with, hence, many marketers advise the creation of multiple accounts as a fallback.

    But first thing's first..

    CREATE YOUR VIDEO, and upload it to your channel! You won't be able to reap the benefits of YouTube without having a video uploaded.

    Good luck, and I hope this helped.

      Yep YouTube marketing is a good plan!

      In addition to just internal YouTube traffic try to rank each YouTube video in its own right by sending backlinks to your video URL.

      Also embedding it in a number of web pages on other sites tends to help as well.

      If you are trying to get the user to do something then specifically tell them in the video. A big arrow pointing downwards saying "click link below video" normally helps improve click through rate!

      Also write a decent 300+ word description for each video (just like an SEO article) and include your keywords in that to help with Google rankings.

      I have also found that some videos take a while to pick up speed so dont be put off if they are slow to get views.

      I had a video a few months ago of me just speaking to the camera and it hardly got any fews to start with. But as people starting leaving comments and it got embedded on a few sites it managed to pick up a few thousand views over the coming months.

      I also recommend following the video marketing teachings of "Kurt" on this forum and he has an excellent WSO on the subject that I purchased myself.

      All the best!

    Get a good camcorder, a nice background, and show yourself on camera. This will make for good thumbnail images in the Youtube search results. Plus, you will get lots of subscribers if they feel that your information is good.

    Hi Alamar,

    This is really a general question, much like asking "how to cook".

    First, you need to create a good foundation, starting with learning how to make quality videos as efficiently as possible.

    There's a number of ways to create videos, including:
    • Using a video camera
    • Screen recording software that records your actions on the computer screen
    • Slideshows
    There's also a couple of revenue strategies, such as:
    • Making money from Youtube's monetization program (Adsense)
    • Affiliate programs
    • Collect email addresses
    • Combos of each
    You also have strategies for getting views:
    • Ranking videos on Google
    • Ranking videos on Youtube
    • Using Youtube's internal traffic
    • Embedding videos on other sites
    • Getting subscribers, likes, etc

    You will want to set up multiple Youtube "channels". This is OK with Youtube.

    Each channel should focus on a tight niche.

    You may also want to separate channels by type of monetization. For example, a channel monetized by Adsense will want to have high quality videos that appeal to a wider audience. For these videos, you'll want a lot of traffic and you'll want people to view as many of your videos as possible, to take advantage of the way Youtube serves ads on your videos.

    For videos that target affiliate programs, these can be a little lower quality, but must be much more targeted to a smaller audience, with the goal of getting a person to click a link in your video description.

    In general, I like to discuss a problem in the video, then link to the solution in the description.

    For example, create a video that describes the dangers of diabetes and how it is essential to monitor your blood sugar.

    In the video description, include a link to a page on your site that sells a blood sugar test kit using the Amazon affiliate program. (I prefer the eBay Partner Network, but that's another post).

    Again, the foundation is being able to create decent quality videos as quickly as possible. This is the first step to successful Youtube marketing.

    Until someone tells you how to rank, convert and create income I suggest you don't buy every wso; video camera; software package or anything else. Find someone who makes money from videos and not someone who can tell you how.

      HI tumichael,

      Instead of private messages, I'll respond here so others can maybe be helped.

      It's hard to give specifics about your niche without knowing the resources you have. Do you have videos? Are you going to make them about your subject?

      In general, you have a very popular niche that appeals to young people. You need to keep up with trends and jump on them quickly as new "things" are created in your niche.

      I don't know if you can use the Youtube monetization in your country or how you can monetize your videos. I would try to use Youtube/Adsense for your niche if you can, create good videos and promote them trying to get a large audience.

    unluckily, no.. utube partnership is not available in Vietnam yet. The reason I pm is i dont want people think that I am spreading about my Moondancing in so many threads. Anyway, i have many videos of mine doing Moondancing. So it's related tightly to my niche (dance like Michael Jackson)
    I have some questions:
    Should I upload it on my utube channel on a frequent basis?
    How should I do SEO to my video and channel to get on the first page?
    Should I use vagex to generate more views and likes?
    What's the best way to promote my video to get REAL views, likes and subs?

    Hi,

    Personally I use YouTube to rank on Google. YouTube video also helps to improve my website ranking in Google.

    I can rank my YouTube videos on the first few pages on Google for any keywords. It is my secret weapon.

    Hint: try different YouTube title and description until your video is ranked on Google.
    Sorry that I cannot disclose my methods here.

    Hi,
    I wish you all the success with your endeavours. A lot of the suggestions in the posts are very good ones indeed and worth any person on the forum reading. The suggestions have been very informative indeed.
    One other suggestion I would like to put forward is when you upload your video to YouTube also upload it to other video sites at the same time. This way if your account does get terminated by YouTube (who I might add don't deign to give a rationale for such an decision) your video/s in the terminated account are not lost to potential customers. Free sites like daily motion, blip tv or a paid site like viddler (which also ranks well by Google) will see your video maintain a currency with potential customers.

    Setting up a range of YouTube accounts is also a protection however ensure you don't upload too many videos on various accounts without having private proxies to ensure you maintain your identity from YouTube - as too many accounts from the same IP address could send up a flag in YouTube.

    Hope this assists and contributes towards the discussions.

    Many thanks,
    Desley
