What Is Going On With My WP Blog?

I have a new WP blog that only gets a handful of visitors a day. I know that spam is an issue with WP blogs, but this is weird.

Somehow it's been getting comments all day long, and I approve them because they are on topic, and the only links that they are dropping in the URL fields are always to FaceBook profiles.

Now I just got one that is about the 9/11 commission, but it's directed to someone. The guy even addresses a person by his name before going on his hateful little political comment. The comment does not seem spammish -- it feels like it was warp driven away from a legitimate conversation to my blog somehow, and sure enough -- it links back to a FaceBook profile. The profiles are never the same, but never have an avatar.

The comments that are on topic, are just always a little bit "off". Like they're about the subject matter of a blog post, but it's like they're being populated on FaceBook and somehow getting cross-connected with my site. Snippets of conversations if you will. Was there a security issue or something?

    Facebook profiles are very use full to index links and pass on link juice. Not un heard of Facebook profiles and Facebook groups to have pr 3 and above rankings.

      I don't see how that's possible when these profiles are set to private. I suppose that the link juice gets passed on past the login barrier as well?

      At least 3 of these profiles didn't exist when I visited them. The last conversation I mentioned has nothing to do with my topic.

    Anyway you look at it, it seems like you are being spammed. Don't try and understand what they are doing, just block them. Install a pluggin like Akismet to help you weed them out.
