Need Advice in Building My Own Personal Blogsite

by denysapu 15 replies
I just thinking of building a personal website or blog.
There are important references or suggestions from you guys? About something that should appear in a personal blog site in general.
My goal is to introduce myself and some of the services I can do for new clients. (email marketing, SEO, web design marketing, etc).

I have blank on this. Any ideas, suggestion or links are much appreciated!

I would make sure to include great content to help you get followers. But without more details that is the best advice I can give right now.

      Hi FrankMiller,
      Many thanks for replying.

Surely, great content are included in the list. I can place it in the "blog" section.
Now I'm undecided, what is appropriate content shown on the homepage?
I know, it is a silly question, but I'm really blank on this.

As you said you are going to include services email marketing, SEO, web design marketing, etc .Then I should suggest you to add a portfolio tab in your blogsite. Because it will help you to get client faster.

Start with a GREAT theme on a powerful framework like Thesis or Genesis.. There are some awesome skins out there. Blogcussion and Marketers Delight for Thesis are really really nice IMHO..

It will be a lot of work to setup but very rewarding if you throw some passion in it

No resources or references. Just plenty of informative, valuable information. Be an expert at what you're trying to sell so that people come to your site for the information. Don't write for search engines. Write for your audience. Your content will be your most valuable asset.

Cant you do both? I personally use google adwords to get new ideas of stuff to write about. Just to be clear I'm not advocating writing spammy spun up articles peppered with loads of keywords.

I'm talking about using something like Market Samurai to see where the traffic is flowing through the Search results and then writing high quality unique articles based on themes that have nice search volume.

Maybe I got it all wrong but it helps me get outta my head and into the rhythm of daily posting. Which for me is the most important thing.

      Just my 2c

In my opinion it's better to create a site than a blog to promote your services. This way you can organize your content better, add description and prices in a page. A blog post will look old after a few months..

    Three things:

    1. Content that related to your products or services
    2. Proof of your works before, a Portfolio maybe
    3. Tags, do not forget TAGS

You can also join some micro-blogging sites and other artist driven websites like Tumblr.com or deviantart.com and upload your designs there. Link it to your webpage or blog site. Try joining other forums with those topics that you mentioned and post your site's link there. You can also try posting it on some Social Networking Sites, like Facebook. a Good recommendation from friends would hurt too.
