STILL looking for the perfect step-by-step guide (NOTHING left out) to a simple online venture!

Hello I wonder if you can help...

I've bought a dozen or more, looked at the advertising hype for scores, probably hundreds, and I still can't find what seems to me to be a fairly straightforward step-by-step, simple language, tutorial.

I'm not looking for a get-rich-quick scheme, not looking to get rich at all in fact (although it would be nice) and not looking for something that requires no work. I really can't be doing with all the bs...

What I would like to get my hands on is a tutorial, ebook, hardback, whatever, that considers me to be a techie eejit and takes me by the hand from point A to point Z in the simplest possible language with absolutely nothing - I mean nothing! - left out.

I have subscribed, still am actually, to a week-by-week course which is not at all bad, except that because it takes for granted that I will know some things, and consequently leaves them out, I am now weeks behind and thoroughly disenchanted.

I'm not after a course on building a rocket to Mars, but, as I've said, a simple, thorough tutorial that gets me up and running, even to a small extent, in a reasonable time.

I have a medical condition which limits energy supply so can't spend hours on end a the pc, but do realise that some time and effort will be involved. Enough of this £X,000... or $X,000 for five or ten minutes a day, it's just not realistic. At least not to begin with, as far as I understand it.

I really don't mind what kind of venture it is (I understand affiliate marketing is well regarded) so long as it meets my criteria.

I would be most grateful for any, all, INDEPENDENT advice, help, information, assistance...

Thanks a lot

    Hi RBobD:

Welcome to the forum and on the more important note I hope your health situation is under control and you are well today.

The question you post not only is an articulate one but frustrating as well. I have looked at endless products from small to large price points and you would think somebody would come up with the Coca-Cola model to follow. To show you how that is not feasible the other day an email came to me with a free piece of information that I hadn't seen in any of the paid products. Last week while looking at a 27.00 dollar E-book there were a couple of very helpful sentences that my eyes had not been fixated previously. A few months go I went through a very expensive product and only got three pieces of information that I wasn't privy to previously.

Here is what you can do. Use every forum post, article site, and product you purchased as the beginning of the master guide.

Take a piece of paper and create 3 columns.
    Column 1:
The good information with the topic and a synopsis
    Column 2:
The bad information and what questions you still have\
    Columns 3:
Topics you have not seen covered either in an advantageous or lousy manner.

This way as the paper gets larger you can see what questions to ask on the forum, which areas you want to gain further expertise.

Don't rush or believe every word.

Thanks for your time and have a great day!

    Hi Bob,

It is normal when you are starting out, there is too much info
out there and if you go after all the new books and courses
that are launched every day you end up confused and a confused
    mind never achieves anything.

Think about what you want, you have to know where you are now
and where you want to be, then find a good course, study and
    apply what you learn.

I know that it is exactly what you are looking for, a great
course, and there are good ones out there...

I don't want to recommend anything here because I don't want
that people think that I am spamming the forum.

So, look around, find the course and apply... that's it.

    Thanks,
    ^PV Reymond

Kevin Riley has a good, very basic Home Study Course for $125.
It's based around creating basic how to guides, but all the basic info is there.
I'm half way through it myself.

I know exactly how you feel, I'm in exactly the same situation and feeling very frustrated and suffering from paralysis of analysis! Too much god damn information! AAAARRRGGHH!!

    Good luck.

    Hi Bob

My inspiration was the 20/20 Challenge by Michael Green. It really is a step by step guide. If you go for it, expect it to take longer than 20 days - but stick with it and follow the instructions and stay focused.

Many people (myself included) have stopped following the step by step guide, because we've got sidetracked by other IM ideas that we decide to investigate along the way. We then realise the error of our ways and realise how much time we've wasted, before getting back on track again.

Whichever guide you decide to follow. Follow it .... don't get sidetracked .... stay focused.

    Hi Bob

You probably won't find the complete answer in one book, report, eBook etc.

One report can give you an outline for what you can do. It can give you the system. But that report may not explain the basics of setting up your site.

You'll have to do some further reading to find out how to set up your website.

It's like studying for anything. You'll never find all the information you need in one resource.

    Hi Bob,

In theory, such a guide would be awesome, or should I say immense? The problem is that every step, in detail becomes ungainly.

Do you include how to enter a website in every single browser's address bar?

Everyone has different browsers, operating systems, and software for their computer. So, any example given in such a guide won't work for everyone.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, just showing how difficult and ungainly such a guide would have to be.

As an Internet marketing coach, I'm a bit biased, but that sounds exactly like what you need - a coach.

With a coach you will have someone that you can ask about any step that's giving you trouble. They can also work with you one-on-one and address any specific issues you have, and they will be customized to what you have to work with.

In short, you don't need a guide, you need a coach.

    All the best,

    Hi Bob,

The closest I've seen to a 'from-the-ground-up' course is the set of tutorials you can find at Thirty Day Challenge. Not only is all the information free, but the quality is excellent, no fluff.

I'm having a hard time understanding what your problem is.

So, you're interested in the simple affiliate income model?

You do not need a full-blown website to get started.

The technical issues you speak of could be...

    - slapping up a webpage or blogpage:

Here's a place that will give you one for free... ( very simple )

    www.synthasite.com

    - creating clickable affiliate links on your landing pages:

After your presell landing page is ready, you simply highlight the words you want to be clickable and then click the url creator of your page maker, then you would input your affiliate link in the field for links.

Then the link would be clickable.

Those are a couple of big ( but simple ) technical issues facing newbies today.

    > For the simple affiliate model you could simply...

    - Decide on a niche to operate in:

    - Find a couple of products for the people of the niche:

    - Slap up some sort of landing/presell page:

    - Drive targeted visitors to that landing page:

4-500 visitors should give you a good idea of how your prospects will react to your offer:

    - Monitor your results of your test:

That is the very basic affiliate model using a one page system in a nutshell.

Of course, there are methods and tools to help you progress through each of the steps outlined above.

    Hope This Helps!!

Internet Marketing Center's "Insider's Guide To Marketing
on The Internet" ran almost 800 pages when I bought
it in 2006. It's probably near 1000 pages today. The
writers erred on the side of making few assumptions about
what the reader knows, so if you need that level of detail
on the basics of setting up and promoting an online business
that would be a good product for you to get.

Of course you want "simple" - and the problem with simple
and easy businesses online is competition. Since there is
a lot of undistinguished competition at the "simple" level
capturing a significant market share can actually be tricky.
You can join PIPS for example and you get a website to
promote. All you do, more or less, is advertise it.

Of course then you have to learn to advertise without losing
money at it and that is a skill few people get.

So you don't even need a website, but you do need
a clue, because when you play the game at the most
basic level your business is part of the "noise" online,
not really standing out because it's basically identical
to 1000s of other online businesses.

The real trick of marketing is figuring out how to make
people perceive what you offer as somehow special
and different and superior than what the competition
offers. Of course in reality many businesses are not
that different, so marketers with panache invent ways
to create a perception of unique value.

Personally I think your problem is with your mindset. I wonder
if you are really cut-out for running a business. Anyway,
you might try Ebay. It's pretty straightforward and there
is a lot of instruction available.

If you are serious about entrepreneurial success the best
book I have read on how to get it is "The 12 Factors of Business
      Success" - pulls no punches.

    Hey Bob -

I wrote this for a friend and ended up posting it here last night. It might be of some use to you. If you have any questions about the method, let me know. It's not so "step by step" in the post, but it is very basic, and very easy to do.

Get Focused, do some market research and put together a product.
From there you can work on marketing and launching it.
Set up a blog, update it regularly with useful content/info.
It gets more complicated as you grow your business, but start from the beginning and don't look to be perfect just of value.

    What action have you taken?

Have you identified a niche you might be interested in?

Have you worked out what keywords and keyword phrases people use when searching?

Have you decided what to sell?

Have you bought a decent domain name?

Have you built a simple website?

    Have you written some content?

Have you worked out and tested some good headlines?

Have you started spreading the word about your site?

    etc.

Some great suggestions, and Kate makes a good point that its important to focus all of your energies into one source and tested theory so you aren't distracted by other methods. Its always a good idea to get as much information as possible for sure, but continue to remain faithful to your original plan and intentions!

Like RobertSeviour above, I would recommend you sign up for the Thirty Day Challenge run by Ed Dale & Dan Raine.

It is full of free information that walks you through the process step-by-step (mainly by video tutorials).

If nothing else, you'll come out at the end of thirty days a lot wiser than when you started - without having spent a cent!
