Can I be in trouble for this?

Hello folks,
I have a simple question regarding the release of a product on Clickbank. Say if I release an ebook and price it at 37$. And after a few weeks, I add bonuses and video tutorials without changing the price, can I be in trouble for this?

1. Does clickbank give you the option of adding more bonuses or is the sales page once for all final?

2. Can the buyer who purchased my ebook for 37$ take any kind of legal action if I sell the ebook with a few bonuses a few weeks down the line?

Maybe it's a stupid question, but I just wanted to hear your thoughts.

Keep in mind that the person who purchases your item can request a refund within the allowed time for any reason whatsoever, so it's in your best interest to offer the bonuses to people who have already bought from you, as well, if they request it.

As for whether adding bonuses would get you in trouble with Clickbank -- I can't say with certainty but it's one of those things that would never concern me.

I agree with BizBoost. You must offer the bonuses to the people who bought your ebook prior.

Or in you ad, maybe you can offer "free updates".

Legally, I don't know that there's much they can do. You can try to sue for just about anything, but that doesn't mean you'll win. But, that's a question best left to a lawyer.

I don't think it would be a problem, though. They willingly purchased the eBook at the $37 price, without additional bonuses. Unless those bonuses were promised them, I don't think there is an issue there. Just look at how many DVDs are released in Hollywood, and subsequent releases may include bonus materials and the like that weren't included in the original release.

But, you might want to offer those bonuses free to people who have purchased your book within the last 30, 60 or 90 days, or longer, depending on how you want to do it. You're giving them away to new buyers, so why not make them available to previous buyers as well? That can help build a good relationship with your customers, and make them more likely to buy from you in the future.

For example, consider that John Doe buys your eBook today for $37. Two weeks from now, you start selling the eBook with extra bonuses, all still for $37. John may get upset and, if you don't give him the bonuses too, never buy from you again. Or, if you're using Clickbank or still within your MBG period, John can ask for a refund and rebuy the book, with the bonuses, for $37. In that case, why not offer John the bonuses and save him the hassle of asking for a refund? If the refund period is expired, we're back to the first case, where John is simply mad and won't buy from you again.

Of course, another option is that John is happy with his purchase and won't cause any problems. And, if that's the case, you don't have any worries, but why not give him the bonuses to make him an even happier customer?

Remember the old saying too that a happy customer tells a friend, but an unhappy customer tells ten people.

Adding to what Carol and Dan have said, you might even just include something like, "Purchase now and receive free updates for life!" somewhere in your sales page. When you follow through, it will increase your credibility with your previous buyers.

Try to always think in terms of how to make your customers happier rather than how to avoid upsetting them. It will have better long-term results for everyone.

Thanks folks. As always you guys rock. My plan is to offer those bonuses (if I end up putting them) to folks who may have already purchased the product.

You're welcome. And keep thinking... keep your follow-up message short and simple and be sure to include a recommendation to something complementary that will earn you another sale or affiliate commission.

Whether it results in $25 more or $2500 more, it's MORE...
