To Niche is Fine, To Build a Team of Generalists is Divine

Make no mistake about it, I've learned a lot by visiting this forum, and by studying Niche and viral Internet marketing in general.

Last night I had what alcoholics refer to as a moment of clarity and I realized that I want to create a new Niche, and least when it comes to THE GENERAL AUDIENCE AND THE IM COMMUNITY!

The IM community generally focuses on niche markets, which is reasonable, but I've always wanted to create a powerhouse team of marketers to market general entertainment products to the masses, and last night I think I figured out a good part of how to do that, give potential affiliates A LOT MORE TOOLS THAN THE STANDARD MARKETING COMPANY, and give generous commissions with a plan to launch new products frequently!

I have two potential general entertainment products I could market, one an album, music video, fan club, a tour for a talented up and coming musical act, the other a novel written by a published novelist/produced screenwriter/CLEO winning actor.

At this point I think for any kind of launch in these categories to be successful at sparking a viral hit, a team including joint venturers who would get a HUGE PAYDAY IN THEIR SALES, and a large number of smaller affiliates would need to be assembled.

My question is would it make sense to create an affiliate/joint venturer recruiting website, developing out affiliate tools before developing a product site, with a plan to build an email list to keep these business partners informed about coordinated social media marketing efforts to occur on day one of the product launch, like a twitter hash tag and a YouTube video we are hoping to make "viral," or would you build a product site first?

I'm asking because the plan is bigger than any single product launch in the short term and I think the team building is more important both long and short term because the goal is to build an IM comunity that through viral marketing can be as effective, if not more effective at launching an album, or a book, or a movie than the major media companies are today.

The tools to create ART, and the tools to PUBLISH AND DISTRIBUTE IT, have been democratized, NOW SOMEONE NEEDS TO DEMOCRATIZE THE MARKETING, and that's what I want to do!
