#1 out of 435 Million in 1 Week with 1 Link?

I've always tried to get my keywords in whatever domain I choose; however that's not always possible.

I recently launched a WSO (no, this is NOT promo for it although I'm sure some will misunderstand that) called "10 Minute Articles"

So I bought the domain name 10MinuteArticles.com, figuring that was as good as any. My initial goal for the product was to make it a WSO, test the response to it, and perhaps turn it into a product for sale on Clickbank, hence getting the domain name instead of just making a page on another site.

So I put up the site, made the WSO page (/wso) and created my WSO post in the forum. As far as I am aware, that is the only single link to this website in the entire internet galaxy.

I bought the domain on Wednesday or Thursday last week, I can't remember. This morning I logged into Analytics and noticed there was a hit from organic search.

That's funny, I thought, I wonder who could have found it already through the SERPs?

So I did a search on "10 minute articles" (no quotes) and lo and behold, the site came up #1!

Interestingly though, the WSO page was the one that came up, not the root homepage.

Then I looked at the # of search results - 435 MILLION!!!

(I tried to insert screenshots here but for some reason it's not working..)

That's on Google.com. I also tried it on Google.ca and it also showed up #1 out - get this - 1.93 BILLION!

I can't remember ever seeing that many results for any search, so maybe this is all screwed up, I don't know.

I SWEAR the Warrior Forum link is the only one that I know about, and that this domain is only 1 week old. Seeing as this is a WSO I've done no outside promotion for it.

Kind of lends a lot of credibility to the argument about having keywords in the domain eh?

Now, if only this was also a high traffic & valuable keyword....

While you are correct that "10 minute articles" withotu quotes shows 426mil results, but you have to remember that without quotes it just means that there are 426 millions sites (or pages?) that have those words. So something like, "make a ton of money, just 10 minute a day, by writting articles" would show up in search results amongst those 426 millions.

"10 minute articles" with quotes only has 163 results. And given the amount of weight google seems to give to domain name, it's no wonder your site shows up first. Doesn't have much to do with wf link though, just low competition for that key phrase.

Ah - thanks. I knew there must be something fishy going on. Seemed a bit too good to be true. LOL.

I have to agree with the previous posters here. The thing that gets people is that if you have a website, then chances are you are ranking for something. The problem is that the things that new and unoptimized websites are ranking for amount to little to no traffic.

Ok the Warriors have spoken: my bad. I should have checked out the results in quotes before posting. Even I could have clued in at that point .

Still, it makes for a fun example.
