Find a forum that is related to whatever you are promoting. Big Boards is the best resource for this. Make sure the forum you find allow signatures with links like the one you have here, this is imperative.

Next, make some relevant posts to different topics in the forum. Limit this to about 5 per day as to not look spammy. Make sure your posts add something to the conversation. "LOL" and "THATS COOL" aren't going to cut it, you'll be flagged as a spammer pretty quickly. After a few days of posting, go ahead and add your link to your signature and KEEP POSTING. The more relevant, on topic posts you accumulate, the more people will see and click your signature.

That's forum marketing in a nutshell.

As far as I know, forum marketing is all about building trust and relationship with other forum members all the while building your name and brand. The more value you add to the forum, the more people would want to click your signature link to check you out.

I recently made a blog post on how I built my list and got nearly 50% conversion on my squeeze page using forum marketing. Here is the link.

Forum marketing is one of the best direction to get back link, but you must know
the way how to use forums.

First you should build relations also participate in communities, ask questions answers the questions make friends and do discussion.

If you want visitors arrive to your site; Use signature (but be sure to read the forum rules before doing this).

This.Forum Marketing is about adding value to the forum and answering questions that you are qualified to answer. It does not mean spamming your link without making a contribution

You first need to find a forum in your niche. You can do this by going to Google search and putting in ("your niche + forum.") You register and start interacting in the forum. Contribute and add value to the conversations. The only place your blog url should go is in the forum signature.

    1. Find the right forum.
    2. Join the forum.
    3. Complete your profile (photo, tag line, custom name, whatever is customizable, social contacts)
    4. Craft your signature (2-3 lines with a link to your site, blog, squeeze page, NOT affiliate offer!)
    5. Participate in conversations/threads you can add your knowledge to, provide advice, help, private experience
    6. ALWAYS remember to attach your signature (p. 4)
    7. Do that every day (five or six posts/replies to posts a day should be enough).

Check your website/blog stats after a week for example, and see the results. Enjoy!

  • In terms of forum marketing, you must behave like a real person. Spammy behavior will not be entertained. If you go to a forum and place your link straight away, that forum's moderator will definitely ban you.

After registering in a forum, take some time to used to with the forum. Some forums have got signature link option by default or some forum requires a number of posts to get signature link active. Make at least 15-20 posts in a forum before placing a link in signature. After 15-20 posts, you will become a trusted member of the forum.

To do better forum marketing, building relationship has become more important. If you can give some time everyday in some forums, you will get tons of visitors from that forum itself.

The guys and girls above are correct.

I made over $10,000 in just over 6 months now, and that is just marketing through one forum. However, not all forums will allow everyone to post a URL in their sig. The one I joined cost about $175 a year to 'advertise' - but for that I am allowed to directly promote my website in posts.

But I limit this to a max of 1/2 per day, the rest is just discussion where I participate without any mention of my product.

The key is, you must be natural, and you must come across as an authority in your subject area - and appear that you are not only there to promote your site.

Forum Marketing is a waste of time. You might get some some business out of it, but compared to the time spent for it.... not really.

Other than that, it's all about value, so if you don't know anything about the forum topic,
you might not do that good.

      I completely beg to differ.

I log in to the forum once a day, spend about 15-20 minutes posting and thats it.

$10,000+ revenue, for a $175 investment. And still getting regular sales 6 months on.

That is ONE forum, ONE product (no other marketing costs spent at all).

What if I was doing this for 5-6 products, and getting similar results

People talk about interaction, gaining a reputation - the best place is not Facebook, it is not Twitter, it is forums.

Forum marketing is a marathon not a sprint. If you are looking to GET RICH QUICK and QUICK RESULTS, forum marketing is not for you.

The core to forum marketing is ESTABLISHING CREDIBILITY.

You build credibility by posting quality content AND building relationships with the COMMUNITY.

That's the core of it. Why would they take you seriously if you haven't taken the time to contribute content and be part of the GIVE AND TAKE of the community.

In the end, it is a BRANDING exercise that's worth its weight in gold. It is a cornerstone of a solid online business. If you don't have time to do it, there are legit forum marketing services out there.
