Dear Warriors,
Please help me on this. I went through various sources but got conflicting reports. There are several names claiming to be the first Internet Millionaires.:confused::confused:

I could be wrong, but I think I read somewhere that the inventor got very little money for his invention of the internet. It could be just a dream I had though. I always have weird dreams about people not making money off the internet

      That would be great, Jimmy
But asking the Warriors to submit their Success Stories would be seen as a direct promotion of my blog and I might be banned for breaking the forum rules

Not to mention the stories you will get will be just stories, from imagination, not based on facts

But I think reading about the first internet millionaire will be more interesting than any random millionaire. Sorry I can't be of any help but good luck with your search.

        Mousumi,

If I'm not mistaken, you may open a Warriors Looking To Hire thread and post your requirements for all those who would want to submit their success stories to your blog. You may want to consult one of our moderators just to be 100% sure if that does not violate any forum rules.

I would of thought the first Internet Millionaires would of been software developers or hardware developers. In what sense are we talking about the "internet" here? I'm sure there were people who were creating servers who would of made a tonne of money before we got into the http realm of the internet. Then you would have ISP's... then I suppose the software developers would come in... Founders of Netscape, Microsoft with Internet Explorer etc...

Well, anybody who used Internet to make millions...It includes ISPs or the people who helped Internet spread across the world.

Thanks for drawing my attention to some hidden aspects of the Internet. Well, honestly speaking, I was looking for somebody, say the likes of Google, Yahoo, eBay, Amazon etc.

Things seem pretty confusing to me now

My guess is Jim Goodnight...he invented something called email for NC State...they said it was stupid...of course they tried to sue him 10 yrs later when they figured out what it was....but it was done in the early days when it was only universities linking their libraries on unix.

      Mousimi,

I can't be sure, but it is possible that it is Leo Beranek or Richard Bolt of the company Bolt, Beranek and Newman.

Their company designed and built the equipment that was used to send the first message over the first internet network.

So, the question would be how much money did they receive for that development work.

In any event they were arguably the earliest to generate income from the internet, and their company is fantastically successful, so they would certainly make an interesting article.

I don't know who it was, but if I had to guess what they were selling I'd say porn. The first ecommerce site to accept credit cards was a porn site. You'd probably have to ask someone who knows a lot about that industry for the details.

I believe the internet was a military 'invention' way back in the 60's - remember hearing in case of nuclear war so communication could be continued regardless of outposts being taken out.

The World wide web had an inventor by the name of Tim Berners-Lee. I don't think he made much out of the original invention but i would imagine now he has probably made a decent fortune out of books and public speaking about it.

The "nuclear war scenario" is a complete urban myth in the context of the Internet's development.

You know a success article I would like to read? the first AFFILIATE marketer to become a millionaire. Now THATS something I would like to read about. Why? Because it interests me and I find it motivating. I love affiliate marketing and I love reading biographies. If I could find real success stories on Clickbank and Amazon affiliate marketers who struck gold, like really really got rich, wow! now that'd be something!

It really depends on what you mean by the Internet. Before the World Wide Web and hypertext markup, the Internet was mostly non-commercial, so the only ones making money were the equipment manufacturers and somewhat later, some ISPs which included CompuServe, AOL and Prodigy.

My pick for the first Internet millionaire in the post-www Internet that we think of today would be Marc Andreesen, the co-author of the Mosaic browser. He may not have really been the first but he was certainly one of the most visible. Today his fortune, pegged by Forbes in March, 2012, at $600 million pales in comparison to some of the modern Internet billionaires, but his story is much more interesting in its breadth and depth of participation in the Internet over the last two decades.

If you mean the first INTERNET MARKETER to be a millionaire, it was John Reese a respected member of this forum since it started way back when. His recording of the event in a swank hotel over a weekend of setting a cron job on the server to allow people to buy his course went live and the dollar amounts on a calculator at the side of the screen just rolled as though it would not stop. Some of the older members will remember that event, it hit the fan, he made the first million dollars that weekend that any marketers ever made.

I think perhaps the guy who invented ebay, that was a while ago....its quite a debateable question as there is no one who was documented or been given a price for being the first person so make a million online. Just like graham bell wasnt the first person to make the phone, but another person in italy or somewhere made it same time aswell....so i would certainly say its gonna be hard to figure out, but with some in depth research you might find approx. the first millioanaire. Good luck finding anyways

Can't remember his name but he still owe me 30k :-)

I heard once a story from a guy which was the first who launched a website which was nothing more then a page with 1 million grey pixels.

He then offered to everybody advertising space, selling 1 pixel for $1 dollar.

As this was a totally crazy thing, the site got a HUGE press and traffic and he sold his 1 million pixels fast, and got his 1 Million U$.

    Can't remember his name tough.
