1st sale ever! but the 2nd?? :)

I just got my first sale ever a few days ago. First time in my life when I get money without selling my time. I started at the end of april. I had this idea for an ebook, so I dry tested it using google ads and a sales page built in kompozer. I got some clicks on the buy now button. So, I wrote the ebook, I put it online and the same day I got my first sale. The ebook is advertised on google ads. After that first sale, I expected sales everyday, but I have't got any more for a few days.
Any suggestions on how to improve the sales of an ebook?
(I already changed ads and sales pages a few times looking for the best combination of them)

Cheers

Congrats. I would caution you not to change things up to soon, especially since you already made one sale.

Its great that you took action and got something out there. Are you getting enough traffic before changing things around? Are you tracking to determine which keywords bring in the best results?

If you aren't, then you're flying blind. Tracking is key. Then increase your traffic and see where you need to concentrate your efforts based on which source/keywords that bring in sales.

Other than posting the link on other forum or social networking site no. I assume the one customer was just someone quite random who ended up on the site.

Twesting and changing are good things, make sure you split test so you do keep a version which brought you the sales upfront and then add your testing to it so you get the best of both worlds ... also search for forums on the topic an try to contcat the forum moderator for an partnership of the product.

Testing is key and don't change anything before you have a statistically significant amount of clicks/impressions etc...

    Use a calculator. Here's a spreadsheeet I came across:

A/B testing significance calculator (spreadsheet in Excel) « I love split testing – Visual Website Optimizer Blog

    But there's also online calculators.

    This is key.

      Hi Joe

      Well done on the sale

Are you targeting both the search and content networks? Remember to use negative keywords to your advantage to only receive the traffic you want - targeted traffic will help to boost your conversion rate while keeping clicks low

How much clicks/impressions is a significant amount? I am changing now after 100 clicks. Do you guys think it's too early?

You should see how much sales you get per 500 clicks.

By the way, I don't know if you are doing it, but always try to capture visitors email ! Install optin forms in the salespage to follow up the prospects, an exitpop if you want, and the most important : capture the buyers!

Run more ads in differnet places, do some free marketing, and sell more to the customer that you already have.

Great job by getting that first sale. Now you must simply focus on tweaking and testing your sales copy and once you find a profitable formula, focus on scaling it up

Have you thought about lengthening the e-book a bit by adding more of an intro, and then giving away the first XX pages for free? Pot Pie Girl (aka Jennifer Ledbetter) does this with her One Week Marketing Plan (here: One Week Marketing with PotPieGirl - How I Make Money Online For Free - My Affiliate Marketing Guide -- the pop up with that offer comes up after a brief period).

I think it's a great marketing tactic to entice your prospects further into the sales funnel.

    Best of luck to you!
