I know piracy is obviously a problem when you're a vendor of digital products and I have just noticed a website blatantly selling stuff that does not belong to them. One of the products being sold is copyrighted, owned and created solely by me.

What's the best course of action to take as far as getting their site taken down?

I'm not too hot on copyright law so any help with this would be cool because I'm frickin steamin about this!

Consider sending a DMCA takedown notice. It isn't too difficult or time consuming to put one together, and most folks who get one will comply pretty quickly, fearing further legal action.

Here's a pretty good rundown of how you could go about it:

Yes, you most certainly need to start off by sending them a DCMA notice. If they do not respond to that then the best course of action is to go directly to their hosting company and send them a DCMA also. Hosting companies are usually very attentive to this kind of thing because it can land them in a lot of hot water.

Here is a free DCMA template. I use it every other day of the week and it works well:

If you can't control piracy, here is my recommendation to get the most of it: Add "bonuses" on your ebooks and link them to your squeeze page. If you have other products to sell to that market, consider this a viral strategy to get optins. If you are too concern about this send a take down notice. I think piracy is a bad thing for sure, however you need to think like a marketer to make money like a marketer.
