A couple of Facebook questions?

I want to increase exposure to my blog by creating some kind of presence on Facebook. Eventually I will want my blog posts to show up on the feed of my facebook fans. It is my understanding that you have to have 5,000 friends on an account before you create a fan page. Can I create just a regular Facebook page for my blog and will it work the same as a fan page would? Is there another option that may be better? Thank you.

No, you don't need 5,000 friends to create a Facebook Page, you can do it with zero if you choose. At one time, you had to get 25 Likes before being able to get a custom URL though.
You could create a Facebook Page for your Blog but I would suggest you creating a FB Page niche related and then import your blog posts to your Facebook Page

I meant that you have to have 5,000 fans to have a fan page. So you think I should create a niche related page and not a page specifically relating to my blog title? Thanks for the help.

No, you can create a Fan Page anytime. So...if you niche was Travel Business. Then create a Facebook Page like "I Love To Travel" or "Worlds Best Destinations" and it will grow virally if you post good content, then post your blog on Wall or create a Tab/App for it

If you are using Wordpress you can enable it to post your blog posts in your Facebook account. You can directly link your Facebook to your blog and it will automatically be posted in your news feed and the news feed of all your friends too.

I think it is still okay to manually post your blog posts in your Personal Facebook page. It is like sharing an awesome post, its just that this time you are sharing your own blog

GO. MOVE. Keep GOING! Even with the smallest steps and slower paces, the important thing is you are NOT STOPPING! You'll get there!

Yes. Pages are free to for anyone who has a Facebook account to create at any time. No need to have x amount of friends.

A good way to get your new page off to a running start is to use the fb advertising. But you do need to be careful and optimize the ad well.

If you need help with that side of things let me know. I can help you get your likes for around $0.01-$0.02 per like but you will need to do a bit of testing and have something that people are interested in as your overall theme.

Like people here have mentioned, you can create a Fan Page whenever you want regardless of how many fans it has, or how many friends you have on your personal page. It is always best to have a Facebook Page than a profile, because it looks more professional for a business.

The best thing you can do is build a fan base of interested engaging people who actually like your niche, and want to be a part of it.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Above comments are great, I also suggest that when you update your status, do not spam your subscribers by uploading bunch of updates all at once. It also helps to get some pictures uploaded and please avoid "check this out" because it sounds spammy. Stirr the interest of your subscribers, communicate with them a good example of this is saying "what do you think?" this is actually suggest that you are ready to hear them out while they have done what you wanted them to do; contribute to your traffic.

Exactly. The best thing you can do with any fans of your page is get a conversation going. If you do happen upon any fans who are very proactive and always like, comment and share your posts you might want to invite them to be a contributor.
