All Free Traffic - By the Thousands - Tips

Here are two ways to drive a ton of free traffic to an site:

1: Youtube

2: Forum Marketing.

The first one is obvious, but people just do not use it enough. Those that do recognize how damn powerful it is.

You can take any niche site, make 50 videos in the niche, can be a minute or so long, tag the videos with proper keywords, and you will drive an insane amount of free traffic to your site. Some marketers use this exclusively, and make THOUSANDS using nothing but affiliate links in their videos.

It may seem obvious but get workin on this NOW, because you aare passing up insane free traffic. If you have a video that hits it big, you will have hundreds of thousands of hits from ONE video.

-----

Forum Marketing:

This is another overlooked tactic nowadays.

I put up a site, a mini-site that sold a clickbank type "How to" product and signed up to some related forums with thousands of members each, and then started posting. I had my link in my signature obviously, and then started posting, ACTUAL posts hat were relevant to the conversation.

What happens? You get thousands of targeted hits of the course of a month, and you will make hundreds to thousands of dollars a site you do this with a month. This is also just ONE site. You can do this in many niches, at the same time.

I know these may seem old, or not as sexy as the newest thing, but these WORK, they are FREE, and drive targeted traffic

Feel free to throw in more like the above to the thread.

Very good post/ thread to make a reminder for us IMers and those new ones. Maximized your use of Youtube and forum sites. Maximized your use of all the resource present and available for you.

    Hi Sandra,
Just wondering if you could clarify something for me about forum marketing. I have a website selling plr articles, so to get traffic to that, would I look for plr forums or forums in some of the niches that I have written plr articles about. For instance, health forums or pet forums?
    thanks

      Bev,

Yea, well you may want to look at internet marketing forums, like this one, and place it in your signature for the articles, as well as going to their individual niches as well.

However, going to the individual niche forums, you will most likely have to center your articles into selling an affiliate product of some sort.

For example give away some of those plr articles in a health forum, and have an affiliate link to product inside the plr article.

Do yo see what I mean?

Do you change these plr articles in any way?

      Otherwise they are just spam.

Do you run them through a spinner to make them unique?

Do you recommend changing them before releasing to Internet?

Youtube seems to becoming very popular these days due to it's incredible authority/ranking power.

...And Forum marketing, old school but in my opinion, still one of the best out there.

Great advice, the only thing I can add is to remember to actually give it a shot. Yes there may be millions of videos on youtube but the avg person has no idea how to get it ranked. Don't be afraid to feel "smarter" than some of the competition. You cant win if you dont play

Couldn't agree more. You can also drive more traffic on Youtube if you comment on other people's videos that are in your niche. Make a relevant comment and people might check out your account and videos. You could even mention your account and how it has more info about this subject/related subject and people will visit your account to see.

You must actualyl interact though. Give value, or else your offer will be worthless.

It is more to do with how you interact with the forum.

You need to provide value in the conversations you are involved with. You will need to establish a presence as well. Most niches are "buyer" niches. There are always "how to" guides to promote if you can no think of anything else.

If you do this in your niche and get good results you really need to take it to the next level by linking to a squeeze page and then make the product your OTO.

Then you need to develop a back end with additional offers and upsells etc.

        Newbies?

I've been getting consistent laser targeted traffic from same niche forums for the last 6 years, it's hardly a newbie source of traffic.

The key is getting your same niche links to stick for years by actually participating in the forum & having a legit same niche site, not just some lame CB squeeze page that will get shut down by a forum Mod. for spamming links.

Since you own a sports forum and target sports fans, you should upload... sports videos! Ah, but of course. The most unusual and fan captivating instances of whatever sport you promote.

It all really depends on the content of your videos, and he strategy you are using. For example, are you using a trategy of a lot of downloads with shorter videos, or are you producing the videos, and creatin longer user generated content?

One way is to form your channel around a specific topic, and gain subscribers by constantly updating your channel, and keep putting out new content.

Another is to upload a ton of videos with correct tagging around as specific niche. You will still gain subscribers, but nowhere near as many.

Can you explain something a bit for me? I put up a bunch of videos, for a very small specific niche, just 300 searches per month globally, and for the size of it I'm ok with the amount of traffic it generates. The question is tho, how does one make traffic come to ones new videos on something common like 'train fido to speak english?' Is it a totally passive system of keywords and organic searches, or what is the secret? There's a million videos that don't get traffic at all, just like websites and articles, but for those there are methods. Any tips? Thanks BR88

There is an algorithm within youtube, much like google for their searches so you must tag the videos correctly for the search you are going for.

However, for bigger more competitive searches a video can go viral quickly, and gain a ton of views very fast, or it can sit there for a few weeks doing hardly anything.

Basically just tag your video correctly as specific as possible. The video will also come up in other related searches, and depending on your niche those searches can be very high volume.

      I would say:

      1. Make A List and promote the new video to them
      2. Make sure the video is good and and encourage them to share
      3. Or if you are a blogger - embed the video on your blog and have Facebook comments installed, so it can go viral

Anytime you can get free traffic is always good. I like both YouTube and forum marketing. Youtube is a little hard to predict because they have been known to ban members who are in the work at home niche and have deleted a lot of videos that seem as SPAM to them.

I had one deleted last year. Too bad because that video got like 40,000+ views in less then 1 year and brought me 10-20 visitors to my site each day. So you can just rely on YouTube because you never know with them.

Completely agree that YouTube Marketing and Forum Marketing can bring a huge traffic for your website.
Video are an excellent way to increase traffic for your website. You don't need to think that much about the content for your YouTube marketing because it comes from your blog posts, articles etc. Keep one thing in your mind that you always convey your viewers back to your website. YouTube is the highly ranked in the search engine so it is the best place for generating traffic in your website. Forum also a good place. You can connect lots of people with help of this. The best part is that you can take only few minutes for participating in forum commenting.
Most of the forums allow you to create a signature that can include a link back to your website. This is essentially free advertising. But one thing I need to include here and that is a good and relevant article can also increase the traffic for website.

Youtube is excellent but it's not really going to lead to a lot of direct sells. Getting those leads in some type of a funnel is the way to go. Personally I use annotations from one video to the next to start my funnel then gradually refer my viewers to a watermarked URL or link in my description. From there grab there email in a timed modal box (15-20 seconds) by offering an irresistible free item.

Thanks Sandra, both traffic is old but it's GREAT.

For newbies, these methods are good ways to get start, just remember don't spam either of them or you will not get any good result.

Meh, if you're just loading up a lot of videos and waiting for the magic to happen, it's more likely they will generate next to nothing. Sorry, but build it and they will come doesn't work on Youtube either.

One way that I have received hundreds of visitors per month is by creating a hub on hubpages.

Squidoo lenses are similar but I have found that if I produce a hub I will receive masses of free traffic and it will last for months and in some cases even a year later I am receiving traffic from one simple hub I spent about an hour producing!

  • Ok, Sandra.
I was on the lookout for "internet marketing" male experts attentions and articles but I might just divert a little and try with females too.
Good thing you made this thread because now I'm gonna add you as a friend (if that is possible in this forum). Otherwise, gonna have to add you as a friend on other networks like Face Book, etc.
I really don't do Social Networking and so you won't find my Face Book or twitter or Youtube or MySpace etc. profile but which ones are you using and I might signup just to add you as a friend.
Actually, I might aswell add a lot of likewise people like this and whenever I need advice then just drop a line to my "friends" and ask for their opinions.
Right now, I am on the lookout for the following techniques so I can build softwares (automation tools) to do repetitive internet marketing tasks around these techniques (rinse and repeat a technique with bots that work) to find leads.

    1. Unique Link Building Techniques
    2. Unique Leads Finding Techniques in Social Networks
    3. Competitions Traffic and Customer Snatching (legally ofcourse) Unique Techniques.
    4. Other Unique Online Leads Finding Techniques
    5. Unique Traffic Building Techniques

You are welcome to checkout my other posts I made so far in order to give your opinion on my techniques whether they are good lead finding techniques or not. Because, if they are then I'm gonna get involved using these techniques to find leads but it's obvious I'm not gonna do them task manually and so gonna program and build some tools to do them.

If you ever come across any good unique traffic building or unique leads finding techniques then you are welcome to drop me a line and you never know you might one day see me build a tool revolving around your unique technique. I don't promise to build it if it is way over my skills or I don't find any interest in it or I don't get enough feedback from other people that the tool would be handy and sell well.
However, if I do decide and manage to build it then I'll give you a free copy just for coming-up with the unique technique and for putting me in a position to build a software based around your idea that made me money.

    Thanks

Don't forget the power of viral marketing.

If you create something highly informative (like a blog post, infographic, or FB fan page) and it's shared by many people, you can easily generate thousands of free visitors.

    Great advice.

Between YouTube and Forum marketing, I prefer Forum marketing. YouTube has taken down lots of videos, without good reason and without warning.

I also like placing free ads online on Craigslist, Backpage, USfreeads, OLX dot com and others to get free traffic.

Thanks for your great tips. Another free traffic source would have to be writing niche articles and posting to Ezine Articles, with your link embedded into it. The more articles you post, the more traffic you pull over time to your site.

Did you know that social media sites get more traffic than even Google?
That's a staggering thought, but it's true. Social media sites are a perfect
way to build solid lists and, if you use them correctly, you won't ever
have to rely on expensive advertising techniques like Google Adwords
in order to promote your products.

The important thing to remember when using social media for list
building is that you have to be careful not to promote your products too
heavily. That's because doing so is a good way to get blocked or defriended.
Sites like Twitter, Facebook and Myspace can help you build a
brand, build a dedicated following and they'll allow you to promote your
products and services absolutely free of charge.

When using social media, it's important not to sound too robotic.
Remember, they are social sites, so use your personality and you'll see
that people respond much better to you and your offers.

    All true about forum marketing.

Evergreen rules of thumb: Don't spam, be friendly, don't be afraid to defend your point of view, try to help others whenever you can and know, stick around/participate the forum for a while and then put your signature file, not immediately.
And of course, try to be decent, stand up kind a guy or a gall.

    Cheers,

    Veo

Youtube can bring traffic, but for me the leads from forums are of higher quality most time. Slideshare also works great and can bring tons of traffic! It all depends on the quality of your posts/slides/videos. There is no easy money online...

Forum marketing does work if done correctly. Used to do it quite a bit a while back but got away from it as I was onto different projects.

But even with doing it just a little bit I was able to generate a few hundred monthly.

I have been trying to increase local traffic to my new businesses website www.drivetrainingservices.com its certainly no easy task however the best techniques for me seem to be using anchor words on local (ish) forums by posting relevant answers to thread questions, also a blog has helped me out a bit but its so time consuming writing up quality posts that it becomes hard to do regularly.

social media i have found works for me also as its easy to update regularly with small posts with the latest news however converting facebook page views to website views is difficult for me, i need to learn to entice people to my website better.

would like to thank all the members for the great advice on this forum as a whole, certainly got me started
