Clickbank to be shutting down all p2p products

I just received an email from clickbank saying that they'll be shutting down all sites that "encourage the unlawful transfer of copyrighted media, such as music, movies, videos, and games (typically known as "P2P" products).

Shutdown date will be April 9th.

Just a warning to anyone promoting any of these products.

    Hi, Gary,

I don't exactly understand this--is Clickbank hosting these sites or do they own them, or are they going to legally clobber them? OR does CB sell the 'how to' guides?

Shutdown may be the wrong word. They are no longer going to allow them to be sold on clickbank. Clickbank is just the middle man.

Finally. They actually decide to make a good move. Now if only they'd fix their tracking system and then we would be in business.

Exactly, Those kind of sites are worthless and only drag down Clickbank.

Fact of the matter is that the VAST majority of things on ClickBank are of such poor quality, or of so much stolen and un-cited content, that the entire operation is shady, and the only reason it's still around is because a) they're just facilitating payment, so they're fine and b) there's a suck born every minute.
Wow, you don't exaggerate much, do ya?

There's a HUGE difference between an ebook (that you might not happen to like) and sites which enable piracy.

One is an issue of quality (actually, preference) and the other is legality.

Can you really not see that, or are you involved in piracy and upset that CB has made this decision?

How many products have you reviewed from CB to make your dramatic conclusion?

What does P2P mean? Is that like one of those sites like nowtorrents.com or downloadsaccess.net where people download/steal other peoples digital products?

P2P means peer-to-peer sharing, meaning that the files are not downloaded from a central server, but instead are shared between the users, like torrents, and P2P networks like Kazaa, Gnutella, etc.

Basically, those products on CB were rip-offs, in which you paid $30- $50 to be told to download the movies from Torrent networks, which you can find for free.

W/ wire transfer as the only payment option? Good luck w/ that.

100% with you on this one.
For almost 2 years I've been actually wondering how they got approved in the first place...

It will definitely free up some clickbank server power for the rest of us. There are quite a few high gravity products that will be gone.

I just signed up, I'm going to test it out and let you guys know how the system works
Seeing as they only provide 'wire transfer' as the type of payment, and you need to first generate $1,000 for ANY PAYOUT...AND DO NOT provide a secure (SSL) connection for the page where you enter in banking details, you must be one brave soul to sign up!

I think I'll stick w/Paypal as the only 'verifiable' 3rd party web site to have my bank details...but even that scares me sometimes.

      Good luck!

    This is a good move.

I know there are a lot of people cashing in big
on these P2P sites, but in my opinion, they are
complete scams... charging people $40 (or whatever)
to tell them to use torrents or some other P2P
    service.

I think this is a good thing, because if you're honest, you have to admit that most of these are pirate sites. I'm tired of finding my products on those sites illegally.

Anyone who sells info products should be happy with this decision.

Saying there is a legal purpose for those sites is like the kid claiming he's buying a bong only for use with tobacco. If you want to "share" a movie with your friend, let them borrow your DVD.

    Good riddance!

Mike_5 and matthewbt and whatever your other aliases are, can you spam just a little bit more?
Its pretty obvious from the registrations that all of the sites you mention are yours.

I can't believe your posts have made it this long.

    Screw them...

So, if you sell one of these products, you only need to change your strategy to sell some CB-LEGITIMATE guide that indirectly touches the P2P topic and then sell your P2P product as a backend sale once people come to your site.

For the love of god, how long will this continue?

Now we have 'member234234' with 1 post asking 'member828845' with 6 posts what he recommends?

Wow...I can't imagine what the answer will be. Could it possibly be the same ones that have been spammed to hell and back already in this thread? Ya think?

There is no way that I'm the only one who can see whats going on in this thread.
    This is ridiculous.

I agree with ProductCreator that its most probably a yourclick.com affiliate that is posting like hell.. I guess he really wants to push yourclick. Since clickbank announced that it would be shutting down p2p sites like TheMovieDownloads.com many posts on this subject have appeared as yourclick.com beeing the best alternative to clickbank.
