Best Practice? Selling Info Product Someplaces / Giving it to my list for Free

I have a few info products floating around and I like to create them because it's work I actually find enjoyable.

For example, one product I give away as a freebie for opting in to my list. I also sell the exact same product elsewhere.

Now, it seems to be this is all fine and dandy since I have separated these groups (especially since the group getting it for free are my subscribers). One group is following me and my site via my list. The other group is looking for infomation products and purchasing mine (hopefully) when it catches their eye.

What are your opinions on this?

Um, I actually know of a few people who do something similar without problems. The fact that the item is sold somewhere lends to social proof and increased perceived value. It's not uncommon in "the real world" to pay for something and then see it go on sale, same concept. As long as the product is actually worth what people are paying for it and you treat them right they wont complain.

One thing you could do is say give away the "basic" version to your list and add some bonus' for people who paid.

For instance I got Kerns Mind Control book free for an opt-in but he sells that book as part of Mass Control for bookoo bucks. I'm happy because I got the book, Mass Control people are happy because they got the book and other stuff.

I would definitely agree with Natausha. It is a simple concept that is even applied in offline marketing. The thing is that you have to add some bonuses that'll spice it up more for those who'll be paying for it.

    Cheers!!

Thanks for the advice. I've decided to create a complete version that I sell and keep the free one the way it is. That seems like the best practice here.
