My First Near $1000 Day (NOT what you think)
I had my first Near $1000 day around 1,5 years ago in the... "Offline" niche (B to C)...
Get this: On Christmas Eve! LOL!
True story, no BS!
Backstory short: I played santa in my late teen age years to several families over a few years... and made some decent money. I did all of my gigs before the big family dinner. It was ok... (At least the money)
On Christmas 2010 I had the need for a chunk of money quite fast...
How did I prepapre: Late summer 2010 I looked at the Google keyword tool and see what people looked for with a keyword that had "santa claus" (local term, not english) in it. It appeared that quite a few people were searching for santa claus services in a local city. Like "Santa Claus [City]" -- I knew this was a money keyword.
So I got the exact search term domain.
I believe I did a few backlinks from PR2-PR8 pages... And the page started to climb... big time!
I think around week before Christmas it was on #2 on page 1. Sweet!
Don't get me wrong. There were alot of pages that offered similar services, but I stood out with the right emotional message (more on that later).
Around 4 weeks before Christmas eve, I had already contacts emailing me and reserving me.
Long story short: I had around 55 people seriously asking me for a santa gig...
In the end I reserved around 19 gigs for that day (a few cancelled / didn't respond)... and ended delivering around 15 that day (Christmas eve).
BUT to be honst... The day of delivering the 15 gigs ... It was partly pure agony AND hell (my navigator sucked, I got lost, bad weather... OH BOY!!!)
But I got through it all and I still live today without major brain drama
My emotional message:
I wrote a super quick and super short message where I had the customer play a mind video in their mind about the perfect evening with santa, the singing of traditional christmas songs and how it all would stay in their memories forever! And that there is no better gift to give than memories that stay forever. And a few other small details to increase trust and social proof.
It worked like gangbusters, partly because NO one of the 1st and 2nd page wrote a copy like that... All they had like "Reliable, alcohol and smoke free santa, call xxx-xxx-xxx number"
That was the first time my SEO + some basic copy skills paid off!
What a funny story to remember afterwards!
Points to take home:
- Always stand out
- Always write emotional copy
- Always have social proof elements
- Always appear as an authority
- Always have ways to increase trust in your customer's eyes
