Best Photoshop Tutorials For Internet Marketers??

INTERNET MARKETING

I have Photoshop CS 8.0 and wasted about 30 minutes trying to unsuccessfully add some text to a JPEG header image! I know Photoshop is way more powerful than anything I will ever want or need to do but I still need it to do the following once in awhile...

- Add text to JPEG images like headers, etc.
- Make my own headers or modify headers occasionally.
- Just any little tasks that an internet marketer needs to quickly get done that requires a little photoshop work.

Yes I could hire this stuff out but sometimes I just want to do a quick thing (like adding some freaking text to a jpeg!) and be done with it five minutes later.

I even did a search on Google for something that will teach me those basic skills and everything assumed that I already knew how to use Photoshop.

Got any suggestions?

Hi Steve,

Those are really basic skills and it's probably quite hard to find any sites on the internet
that teach you how to do those things as most sites are teaching more advanced skills
to achieve certain effects.

You need to find the Text Tool in order for you to write text. I'm using Photoshop
CS3 so it might look a bit different - but it should more or less look the same.

Use that tool to write the text. If you really need help, go to this forum:

Oh, okay. Looks like you have your text alignment wrong then. It's probably set to type backwards instead of forwards. I don't know how you can change that but maybe you can try resetting the tool - that might help.

With regards to moving the text, first, click on your text layer amongst all the layers.
Then select the Move Tool, and you should be able to move the text as you desire.

  Photoshop can definitely be frustrating at first. Make sure that when you try to edit your image you make a duplicate copy (image-->duplicate) and/or make sure the image you're working on is in RGB mode (image-->mode-->RGB). Some things you can't do if your image is not in RGB mode (esp. if your original is a JPEG).
  
  Another thing that works for me is to reset my tools when things aren't going right. When you click on the text tool go to the top left corner of the screen where the 'T' icon is. Right click on that and select 'reset tool'.
  
  Maybe that will help you out. Asher had some good advice also . . .

  I used them for DW CS3 and some other software, but they have photoshop stuff as well. I love them and they way they walk you through everything with videos. Check them out

  I created a little header tutorial a few months ago, perhaps it'll help you a bit.
  
  HERE IT IS (pretty large .jpg)
  
  Of course there are other ways to create these kind of effects, but when it comes to a quick header, i usually do it like this.
