How You Can Start Your IM Journey With No Financial Investment!

There are many newbies here that seem lost and don't know where to start. Since I earned my first dollar online with Hubpages, I highly recommend using these free Web 2.0 platforms to begin your IM journey.

Why? They require no initial financial investment and only a bit of effort. They rank fast and some sites such as Squidoo.com, don't require separate registration of the advertising networks.

So, to begin ...
1) just register at these sites (eg. Hubpages, Squidoo, Blogger).
2) Research keywords at Google Keyword Tool using exact match option.
3) Write articles and post on the platform..
4) Configure their monetization modules.
5) Build backlinks to those pages.
6) Register for advertising/affiliate networks if needed (Adsense, Amazon, Kontera etc.).

Do this for 20 -30 articles and watch the money trickle in. This also gives you confidence in making money online once you have earned your first dollars.

This, however, should not be the basis of your business. It is definitely better to build your own sites so that you will own your business. In the long-term, these Web 2.0 articles will form part of your SEO strategy.

    Hi DylanC,

These are good suggestions...I actually started with hubpages and it was a great learning experience for me.

I'd definitely encourage any one starting out to try these platforms.

There are, of course, many approaches to take when starting out and article writing is one I have done in the past. In those days I was pretty inexperienced and didn't really work out how best to capitalize on my efforts. I must say though - I was pretty amazed where some of my articles turned up and were many times quoted by others.

If article writing is an approach you take I would just add one important caviat and that is to remember to build your list at the same time. That still, in my view, is the single most important step in building a long term sustainable business. And, sadly, one that many do not do from day 1.

HubPages is a great way for a beginner to start, but it should be noted that unless your keyword has virtually zero competition you will have a hard time ranking as quickly as the OP states.

HubPages has recovered greatly since the recent algo updates, however, its not the same HubPages that it used to be. I remember back in 2010, I'd create a hub for a moderately competitive keyword and it'd be ranking on page one, or page two within a week's time.

That said if your a beginner wanting to get your feet wet, HubPages is definitely a place for you to learn the basics of article writing, keyword optimization, research and income generation.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

I did start out with no investment. I was using blogger blogs.

Then I read a thread (might have been here) questioning why people don't invest in themselves and their business by buying hosting and paying for a auto-responder account.

They carried on to say that it was (probably) because deep down newbies didn't have the confidence and belief in themselves and their abilities. That, in essence, they weren't prepared to commit to internet marketing by splashing out on hosting and an auto-responder. Perhaps because even though they wanted to make it... deep down they were fearful of losing money and failing.

    Which can become self-fulfilling.

Anyway, while you can start for nothing, with no investment. IMHO it's a bad move because what's it really saying about yourself and your self-belief?

It's almost impossible to believe that anyone serious couldn't spend $10 on hosting and $20 on an auto-responder. That's probably a whole lot less that lots waste on buying products they don't need.
