Hey all, I'm considering doing a paid newsletter for an upcoming game.

I would attract buyers by putting out game related content/videos on various websites. Then I'd have a special paid newsletter where I give out the best tips and strategies.

What's the best tool for delivery of content, charging new members, and canceling subscriptions?

Thanks!

Why would people pay for information that could be found on the internet for free. It wouldn't be so bad with other niches, but a gamer is incredibly 'savvy' and will know where to find most information. I can imagine the game you are describing is pretty 'hardcore' as well (otherwise why would anybody need regular tips?) and thus it would make it even harder to find 'paid subscribers', but I guess it could work though.

    • Don't worry I am well versed in what information gamers find valuable that isn't available for free anywhere else.

I have two massive success stories under my belt, one for WoW and another for Diablo 3. Both products made over $10,000 in their first month.

But this time around I want something with far less overhead, and a newsletter looks like a great way to give lots of information without having to hire artists and coders.

People pay for information all the time. And more to the point, people pay for memberships all the time, it's not a new idea.

I don't know how much value a paid membership to a "newsletter" would be, but I'm sure if it were done right it is a viable idea.

I have done it but you have to add more value with a product or service or two along the way. It's a tricky deal and it has been years since that time. The key would be to keep them around month after month so just try REAL hard to get loads of value for the membership. A $1 trial may be the best way to start with that. Just test the waters.

Good tip, $1 deal might work well.

But I am still at a loss as to what selling platform to use!
