I've never paid for one since I do design and so does my sister. I do have a friend who does it for a living and I've seen him charge $500-$1000 before, though.

  • There are companies that have a minimum of $80-$90k for logo creation, think HP. So that's a good price for them but depending how deep you want your branding, I would say $1-$2k should do it.

Think I'll stick with the $5 option, thanks :-)

      • I can't believe you are not willing to dish out $80k for your logo, what has this world come to lol.

Graphics are subjective anyway and what looks good to me may be a blunder to someone else.

Absolutely fair point but I know this dude and he is the bees knees for the price. So it's all good. Don't usually give my best sources away but... :-)

I too tend to agree with going the more expensive option.

For me, the logo of my company has to be unique, memorable, flexible, and it must convey a certain "message" to my potential clients...which honestly, I rarely see all those traits in a $5 logo.

Maybe it's just me, but I see the logo as the face of my company, and I want it to stand out from the crowd.

Whatever you decide, ask for portfolio, so you can see what you get upfront. Anyway, don't be cheap on your company branding. And beware of scum, you can be buyer no. 143 of that logo you like so much.

Logos are pretty hit or miss. Taking a look at their portfolio should give you an idea on whether they have the kind of style you like or not. I think some sites (like 99designs?) you can post jobs and get bites from multiple designers for a pretty good price if you are serious.

    Depends...

I've seen some people charge $10 for logo creation services where others charge hundreds.

I'd probably splash out for a proper vector logo. I wouldn't go with a cheap one again.

I am doing the same thing, looking for someone to design a logo.

I think Fiverr is the best choice.

I'm going to find someone new to fiverr but has experience. They probably will try their best to get their name out there. Worth a try for five bucks.

If you're doing a quick minisite, go the Fiverr route.

If you're building a serious business, 99Designs is a great option.

Look at the quality of these submissions.

Logo design contest | Create the next logo for Animal Medical Associates | 99designs

It's pricey...but being able to pick a winning design from 59 designs that were submitted by 14 different designers is a great bang for your buck.

I paid $70 for a logo a couple of weeks back. I was super happy with it, and it was worth the price. I have got fiverr logos done, and the did the job for very basic designs that I needed. But for something that stands out, paying the extra is always worth it.

You can get good work from fiverr. But $50 isnt a bad price at all for a professional logo to be done.

I never pay for text logos. If I need some sort of mascot/character I like to do logo contests sites, the price usually runs from $150-400.

Why dont you download paint.net and have a play yourself. Couple of hours and you can be making all your own logos and banners - it's simple.

If you get really good you can do your own gigs on fiverr.com

I can get a top notch blow me away logo over on Fiverr for $5 from a pro. Also, the quality is max. It would be hard to find a lower price. This month I will probably spend over $200 on gigs. Actually, it is great for me. The amount of work going to Fiverr is increasing. Sadly, many of the old pros are gone. Well, they found some real jobs we guess.

$50 for a logo? If you can't make one yourself, you sould click through to Fiverr.com and get one made for $5

A logo is just a logo.. and in this business every last cent counts.

Don't break the bank, or stretch your pockets when you just don't need to

Prices can vary widely, my designer charges $65 an hour and does great work, but If you're looking for just a logo I'd recommend crowdsourcing one through 99designs or crowdspring, you can get so many different looks it's really a great place to get a well made logo submitted from lots of designers who all bring unique design traits to the logo.

$50 is dirt cheap for a "professional" logo. When I was doing freelance graphic design, my basic price for logo only was $350. $500 with stationery.

I do professional design and for logos I used to charge $350-450 for 3-5 color vector images. However I have to now offer doing logos at $50 rate do to the economy. That does NOT mean that I give out the same quality of work though, and still offer higher end more well thought out logos at a higher rate. For $50 you shouldn't expect more than one hours time of work by a professional based in the US.

For a good well thought out logo that you can use for print, web, signage and so on in vector format you should consider budgeting $300 or more and finding a professional to do the work. That said, if the business name is cruddy in terms of fitting something in with it as a logo... there's not much sense in spending much more than $50. HTHs
