would i be allowed to do this?

as you can see I'm new here and not sure if I would be allowed to do this, I have a service I want to try and sell here and know you have to buy a sales thread. however, i wanted to first post in this part of the forum for a few reviewers / beta-testers for the service to confirm it's quality and works. would I be allowed to do that? I wouldn't be charging the few people for it.

I just want to know if I would be allowed to and don't want to get banned, that's why I'm not even saying yet what the service so people won't contact me out of interest, until I know for sure I would be allowed and not banned. I did PM the admin earlier today but, haven't received a reply so thought I'd check here.

Thanks

Nope. My understanding is that you can offer freebies in your sales thread, or create a "looking to hire" thread for reviews.

    Hope that helps,

You can post it in the classified ads section but it's not free, you have to pay for it.

And a side note--if you need help with forum matters, visit WF's help desk instead of PM-ing the admin. Apparently you'll get a response much quicker that way. Go to the Warrior Classifieds under Warior Products and Services. In one of the sticky posts there, you will find the URL to the help desk.

    Hello poster1,

As what our colleagues mentioned, though your intent is good, others may perceive that you're taking advantage of it as a way for you to promote your service(s) for free. Better be safe than sorry. You may open a "Warriors Looking to Hire' thread but I believe there's a fee for that. You may want to consider purchasing a 'Warriors For Hire' thread right away for only $20.00. That's where you're planning to go in the long run, anyway.

    Welcome to the Warrior Forum!

Yes, I'm aware as to what it could have been perceived as, which is the whole reason I asked first. What's the difference between a "Warriors For Hire" that means I would be hiring somebody to test my service? What if I just opened a sales thread and did free reviews before accepting payment? Is there a particular reason why it would be better to start with the "Warriors for Hire" post?

Perhaps, you wanted to ask for the difference between the 'Warriors For Hire' and 'Warriors Looking to Hire' thread/section. With a 'Warriors For Hire' thread, you're a service provider. With 'Warriors Looking to Hire' thread, you're a service provider hunter.

We have some fellow Warriors who open a thread in the 'Warriors Looking to Hire' section first so they could announce that they're giving out review (free or at a discounted rate) copies. Their goal is to collect reviews/testimonials. Once they've collected a good amount of reviews, that's the time they open a thread in the 'Warriors For Hire' section.

I would recommend you to open a 'Warriors For Hire' thread right away, because at the end of your goal of collecting reviews, you'll be opening a thread in that section, anyway. You could have just added the amount you paid for the 'Warriors Looking to Hire' thread had you opened a 'Warriors For Hire' thread.

I do hope I was able to address your concern, poster1.

        Thanks, I'll do that then.

The "Warriors for Hire" thread is most economical if you are on a tight budget. (5 bucks)

Sales thread - would depend on where it is going.

          Classified (20 I think)

WSO will require war room membership (37) and posting fee (40)

            Hi Jill,

Please allow me to make a small correction if you may.

A thread in the 'Warriors for Hire' section costs $20.00. It's the 'Warriors Looking to Hire' thread that costs $5.00.

Nevertheless, well done in listing all options that the OP may consider.
