  • This isn't a design... it's the product name on a cover. Which is fine in some cases but I suggest you look at other designs to get inspiration. Use Google Images and search for book covers; ebook covers, etc... you get the point.

  • You may like to try out this free ebook cover maker:

  • That's too plain to my liking, try to put some graphics on it.

    • I'm in agreement with all of the other posters but I also feel like it should be turned around? To me, it is very awkward to read it when the beginnings of the words are so squished.

I did a google image search for "articles ebook cover" and sure enough most of them are angled away from the reader instead of towards them like yours. The ones are are still angled towards the reader are still perfectly readable and don't squish the beginning of each word because they move the text more towards the right.
  • Try to see your e-book as a real book in a real world, would you want to find out more abt the book at a glance of it's cover? If you won't then it's not a good cover.
  • google for "free backgrounds for ebooks" i like the text also think you should turn it around
  • It's just a plain simple look. Nothing amazing. Try to put in more graphics or some different cover altogether. Best of Luck!!!
  • It is too plain for me. I agree to posts above, try to infuse good graphics for back ground. Imagine buying a real book in stores, do you think that type of book will catch the attention of your prospects? Search around the net to find some inspiration for your cover.
  • I always think covers should have the authors name on it!
  • Go get a proffessional designer from fiverr. The results you get for $5 very worth it.
  • Hi everyone,

Thanks for your input. I actually need to make the design to keep the file size to be small as possible... and still keep the design at bigger preview (like upto 800x600 pixels). So, I use limited color and want to play with text layout only.

Graphics are certainly helpful, but I want to try this way... very simple but still attractive. Well... I'm not sure if this one here is attractive after all your feedbacks.

    Thanks anyway.

    • If you want to keep the file size as small as possible and design it yourself with primarily text and color, then the next step would be to use blocks of color as a background.

In other words, instead of all blue you could have a thick bar of blue for background for the title and a thinner bar of the same blue for the author's name.

That would leave three bars for other colors. You could try various colors to see which ones catch the eye. You could set off the blue from the other colors with a thin band of black, perhaps a few pixels in height.

These changes would be a start to add a bit more interest to the cover.

By the way, you do not need graphics or anything fancy to sell books. For instance, J.D. Salinger did well with a plain text cover.
