Help with my website (Craigslist format)

So today I thought of something new that I'm going to try. I have an idea that has to do with travel, but it only focuses on a certain group of people. Anyways, I want to cover different cities and the only thing I can think of that comes close, is the way CraigsList is setup. So let's say this group of people were planning a trip, they could click on Los Angeles, CA and everything they need to know would be there. I'm going to start out with the most poplular areas this group goes to and branch out. Then I thought of contacting hotels and restaraunts in that area, to see if they want to advertise on my site. That is down the line though and I'm just starting this. My question is, how to build my website to cover the different cities. I'm a newbie to this and I keep thinking about pages on websites and that could get a bit too much. Is there a better way? I want to also include travel gear specialized for this group. So I have different pages in my head, I just don't know how to make the different cities work. I appreciate your help.

If you have no experience in building such a site, you will need to outsource web developers. From what you described a simple layout with addons will not be enough, so a proper design needs to take place. I have no experience in outsourcing these jobs, so perhaps other members can help you, but a friend of mine had a site outsourced on odesk and I believe he looked into freelancer also.

Sorry to dissapoint, but there are no DIY templates, or at least that I know of, to do what you want.

    Good luck,
    Vlad

Pretty cool ideas. Once you have the website up and running, I can help you with getting more traffic.

I just googled it and I do see a Craigslist clone option but not sure if that might be the way to go. It isn't really classifieds I want but I guess that format would be the same. If anyone knows about this, let me know. Thanks!

Hire an experienced web designer. Something like this project will require more than just a sales page and a paypal link. May cost you a few thousands of dollars, but if you feel it can be a money-maker... go for it.

P.S. Will established travel sites be your competition?

You can do it pretty cheap using a cms system like joomla or wordpress... both have "classified ads" components and plugins that will give you all of the functionality and more that you require for this website..... Both are free and the only real cost would be hosting and domain name.... If your having trouble... hit me up...

You would need to be extremely talented if you can pull off what he described using Wordpress. Hats off to you if you can make that happen....
