Need Help - 70k views and no sales :(

So to visit my website, please click here.

I am focusing on weight loss, coaching and promoting my weight loss shakes. I tried uploading a print screen of my Google Analytics, but it won't let me. Here is a copy of what it says:

Visits: 80,578

Unique Visitors: 74,313

Pageviews: 118,404

Pages / Visit: 1.47

Avg. Visit Duration: 00:01:18

Bounce Rate: 57.24%

% New Visits: 90.54%

How do I convert this in to sales for my coaching and my product? I already know I have a REALLY crappy coaching sales page. I am currently looking on oDesk to have someone write up a better sales page for it.

Any other tips would be great. My boyfriend and I are in the process of breaking up so I will be a single mother. I am looking in to offering other products as well: clean eating classes, weekly meal set ups, free PDFs on how to read labels, etc. Its just that will take time. Any ideas on what I can do to convert the views and increase the duration they are on my site?

Thanks!

Edited to add attachment to show proof that I'm not lying. Here is the attached sheet from July 24th-July 24th of views:

Attachment 14209

Please let me know if that works?

1-2 day, I haven't had it up for a while. So far I have 40 subscribers after about 2 months I believe.

Well for one thing you need to show only one full post on the home page. The rest you can excerpt. Try the WP homepage excerpt plugin. Don't let readers eat up your content like a buffet right off the homepage. Make they work for the content by clicking through to internal pages.

Research other weight loss blogs and see how their themes are laid out. 70K views and no sales is atrocious. You need to work your squeeze page even harder.

Put your site on a diet by stripping down unneeded elements. Split test your designs and see which get more leads.

How are you getting your visitors? It doesn't matter how many visitors you get if they are not targeted.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6673233].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author shaynjordan
They are targeted, I am doing it under pinterest, tumblr, stumbleupon, twitter, Facebook, I post all of my things under weight loss or health categories and then its repinned under whatever people are repinning it as.

I don't hire anyone, I don't really do any SEO, except for the SEO plug in I have. That's why I'm here. I need your expertise.

Consider this, many people browsing social networks are not in "buy mode" and if you don't have a more focused sales funnel it wouldn't be surprising to not have any sales. Definitely push that list though, you can catch them later when they're not coming off a pinterest binge and sell to them then.

Yeah, I think I need to sign up for a class that teaches me how to create a sales funnel better. I'm really sad that I missed out on potentially thousands added to my newsletter becuase of my lack of knowledge. Does anyone know a great sales funnel/sales page course?

Well you have to have targeted keywords that people are looking for. People need to be looking for "buy weight loss program" or something like that.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6673449].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author shaynjordan
You know, with me doing this blog for the past year and just setting up my newsletter in the last couple of months, I seriously never though to put "buy weight loss program" as a keyword I would use. I'm literally shaking my head and cracking up at the same time. So embarrassed but so thankful I came on here tonight.

Thank you for all your input and your help. I will be researching keywords tonight and changing things up a bit.

Just my thought here - I know Visalus is MLM. Most will run. I would create a site around the weight loss without mentioning MLM - who cares if its MLM or not if they can lose weight and you're not trying to recruit them right away.

I would lead with a free download or product sample (something to get them in with email & name).

I've done MLM - a top 10 earner in the Co. I was in (not in that one now). I rarely if ever used IM to build a downline of thousands. If you're looking to just sell product then IM may work if you do it the right way.

MLM online is the same as face to face. People don't buy any MLM products....... They buy the person pitching them. The product is just a good way for people to give each other money. Passion, fire, joy and a shear love for the "business" is what they buy.

Sure some people will retail but who wants them anyway? that is not how you make money in MLM.

Yep, I am focused on selling Visalus, however, I will be changing my domain name because I want to sell my coaching, and other products I will be making.

Yes, I want a downline, but I am the opposite of everyone else, where I want to focus on the health of the customers, workouts, products, etc. If that makes sense?

Play with images. Use stunning photography. Use bigger size. Keep the text short and give a "read more" button for the full information. Give something free in exchange for a list building. That can help a lot. Good luck.

I didn't see a single "call to action" on your site. You opt-in box contains the following statement. "Imagine 5lbs gone" They already do that everyday Also my guess is that the people at your site are concerned with more then 5lbs. They are at your site so you can tell them what to do. Really sounds simple but people get stuck in follow mode. The equation should look like this.

Their problem. State it loud so they see it. "Keep buying products that promise you will lose 50lbs and you never seem lose 10?

Solution My free ebook will cover everything from diet and sleep to exercise and the pitfalls you may encounter along you journey.Your success is my only goal.

CALL TO ACTION Sign-up for my free ebook today!!!! Follow everything it says and I guarantee you will lose 10lbs in the next 2 weeks. Limited copies so sign-up today and get your life moving back in the right direction.

Obviously a little crude but I wanted the process to be clear. Play with it, but have those 3 steps covered.

Also way too many fields on your opt-in box. I might keep your ads specific to you niche.

If you are looking for sales from your home page I would have some kind of sales copy.

Also I would suggest that most of your visitors will become loyal to you as you are starting your challenge. Good for you by the way!!!!! I would guess that they will also be waiting for the results of a leader. So I see far more sales rolling in as you progress.

    I hope that helps

I don't have much time, but from the five minute scan that I did, here are a few things that stood out to me that may be hurting your conversion stats:

      1. To me, that color scheme is just an eye sore. I don't know what to focus on, the content in the middle or the glaring green blob on either side. It bothers me, and makes me not want to try and focus on the center of the site.

      2. The area that contains the content is very cluttered, especially the tag area "filed under" which leads me to the third thing I immediately saw:

      3. Why are these tags in the "filed under" field so big, and why are they capitalized? It makes everything look spamming and unnecessarily clutters the content space and makes the content less appealing to sort out.

This is just my quick 2 minute analysis. See if changing some of these things around doesn't help you out!

      Best,
      -Mike

The BIGGEST problem I currently see with this site is that green background. It makes it almost impossible to read any of the content on the site and I would have it a guess this has played a huge role in your lack of conversions. So many people would have landed on your page and closed it immediately because of that background.

I noticed someone above had also mentioned the background. In my opinion it should already been changed by now. It is a quick 1 minute job and will make a massive difference to the usability of your site. All of a sudden people will be able to stay on your site longer than 2 seconds.

Forget all the other stuff and change that background right now. Just use a simple light grey or white background.

      Hey there Shay,

Okay first of all here's the good news. Getting 71K unique visitors isn't chump change. You've got one of the hardest parts out of the way already...providing that these are truly unique visitors.

I'd take a very hard look at where these visitors are coming from. But again, if these are targeted or even semi-targeted visitors, then as you make changes you should get very fast feedback of whether or not it works.

Okay... THINGS TO THINK ABOUT CHANGING...

First off, the blog looks very scattered to me. It's lacking focus.

Your subject line says "71k visitors and no sales" but the question is...

What are you trying to sell?

I think that you need to work that out first, and then turn this page into a hyper focused machine to sell just that.

Of course you want the subscribers right? So focus on ways of getting those subscribers. I'd get rid of all of the banners below your optin box, and start tweaking the headline above the subscriber box first. Much like "Bilkat19" suggested.

Focus on their main problem which is likely "losing weight" and give them something worth leaving their info. I might suggest doing away with the name field altogether and just asking for email address. Once they're on your list, and you gain their trust, then you can even lead them to another optin page of some sort where you'll more easily get their name, and even more perhaps (phone, address)...and they'll be a much stronger lead at that point.

For a headline I'd go with something more like: "Get My Free Guide to Jump Start Your Weight Loss" and then start making changes from there. Perhaps even offer a free 15 minute coaching strategy as a free gift or something since that's where you said you'd like to start focusing to set yourself apart.

So "Enter Your Email Address and Get My Free Guide to Jump Start Your Weight Loss... Plus a Free 15 Minute Coaching Session...Limited Spots Available"

That's just something on the fly -- might be a little long -- but you see how it shows them what they'll get right off the bat, plus it adds a bonus element.

Second... Like ICoachU said, make your first post a full one, and then excerpt the rest, or hide them altogether. Your time on page will increase, and it will help people notice the optin box more clearly as well...especially once you get rid of the banners below it.

Third... Under your picture, I would change that to a quick little bit of info about YOU. Very quick blurb about who you are, where you're from, and why you want to help.

I'd wait and mention the challenge in an email series once they've joined your list.

Personally I'd ditch most of the links at the top of the page, except for Shay's Story, Product info, Samples, and Contact Us!

But that's up to you. It just looks very busy.

And one more thing that I think would help is in your posts, definitely add more real pictures of you, or other people. Those other pictures scream loudly that you're just trying to sell things, but personal pics pique curiosity and add the human element. People respond much more kindly to that.

Plus if this is MLM, you're selling you so you want to start making that connection right away.

Alright hope some of this helps. Good luck and if you have any questions shoot me a PM.

      Troy

So I supposed I should have paid attention to the views and traffic. Since you all were asking where the traffic is coming from, I went back and I (I told you I'm new, don't laugh LOL) looked and found the traffic tab.

Where are you getting that 70k traffic from your traffic quality seems to suck. Are those traffic exchange views because those wont work. You need real eyes looking at your stuff.
A few points that I felt may cause a huge improvement are..
1- Use high quality pictures, as in good pictures which seem more natural. Don't use low quality graphics that you are using now. Try flicker.com to search for images.
2- The format of posts on your homepage sucks, it doesn't engage people. You need to have more content than that in the preview. Add 5-6 more lines.
3- Improve the quality of your traffic, bring targeted traffic to your website.
That's all I can think of, hope this helps.
All the best with the site.

I think the first key that can force your visitors to buy it that products is testimonials. Without solid and strong testimonials with pictures, not only with words I think that is even not possible to sell nutrition products at all. Testimonials is everything for nutrition products. Another key that force visitor to buy is refund. Third key is promised results in some period.

Three main things that gain people trust and potentially buy it:
      1. Testimonial
      2. Refund
      3. Results in period of time doing what is written.

Without these three things it will be hard to sell even your capture page, sales page and targeted visitors will be great.

I'm not buying it... screen shot your google analytics so we can actually see the 70K or whatever claims you're making.

Your social signals are so low that it's ridiculous to even say that you're getting all that traffic from facebook and other social networks. Sorry...

Seems to me, you just want a backlink or more people coming to your site so you posted it here.

Anyway, 70K visits, with the aff links you have, you would have already made some money, a pretty nice chunk too. I have to pull the BS alarm on this one.

Even a site like yours that really isn't very good, would still pull in some money with 1000 or so visits.

I think your first bet is to capitalize on your current visitors.

Here is EXACTLY what to do:

Find something that will benefit your prospect from their problem IMMEDIATELY (this is very important)

Example: My prospect wants to lose weight. Okay, so I have this 5 page eBook that says that they should drink 2 glasses of water before each meal. I explain the benefits of that and why it works to help lose weight. Now I offer this ebook in exchange for name + email and I say: "Hey, want a quick method that requires NO EXERCISE will help you start losing weight TODAY... Enter your name and email address below"

You see? With something like that, at least 30% of everyone that comes to your website will give you their name and email.

Now if you want to bump that 30% to 40+% then I suggest you get the Popup Domination plugin and have that pop so visitors will be more likely to enter in the name and email.

Once you are generating a consistent amount of leads. Learn how to build a relationship, follow up then sell.

It seems that most of your Stumbleupon traffic is coming to this page:
ViSalus By Shay » Blog ArchiveLose 10lbs in 7 Days Cleanse

There is nothing there encourage the visitor to do anything to your benefit.

For breakfast and lunch I will have one of my delicious shakes mixed with either orange juice (no pulp and no sugar added) or water. I won’t add fruits to the shakes though.
You have Shakes as a link to your sales site, but nothing in that paragraph is encouraging me to check it out.

But I think the biggest problem is that link on Stumbleupon takes them to your mobile site. The mobile site doesn't have your sidebar with the signup form and the advertising.
They just see the article. You might want to fix that.

In order to monetize that enormous amount of traffic, you need to get them in to your funnel! Start off by properly focusing on promoting some free, BUT of GREAT value.

If people optin to your list and receive a great product, they are SO likely to come back for more as they know you're not just a randomer giving out crappy ebooks for e-mail addresses!

It's all about building the relationship, give FIRST, sell SECOND!

    Hello

I would change the "team with us" "contact us" and all other "word us" change to "contact me" "team with me" because it is only you.
I also would change the header area into less tabs to click so it is no much going on at the top.

Insert into your profile picture on the right hand site a link so the visitor will get to the "join the challenge" page. Maybe you get rid of the green "join the challenge" pic and write that into your picture so its like a banner with your picture.

I would get rid of the "bookS i'm reading" and the "wishlist items" area on the left side bar.

at the Shay's Story - ViSalus By Shay page when you scroll down there is one link "check it out here" where the "c" is not into the link.
Nice video btw! I really like that.

You have got a section with the recipe. Maybe you will ad a post with kitchen stuff you use to cook and have an amazon affiliate link in this post.

I could give a lot of feedback on this but the main thing that strikes me is the headings of the blogs are small, there too many blog posts and before I even have a chance to notice them, I am distracted by the banner ADs.
But you are getting a lot of traffic so that' a great start. Maybe I would use web analytic to see where my traffic is coming from and how targeted is it. I would also def redo at least the placement of the banners, along with the title posts of the blog.

Free tip, just because I am in a good mood lol.... go to yahoo answers, create an account, people literally post there how do I lose weight every 5 minutes. Genuinely answer their questions, and place your blog link in your answers. Since all you are doing is promoting your blog, people will be naturally inclined to click on it and from there you'd get a much targeted traffic.
    hope that helps

People are leaving before reading 2 pages

      bounce rate is high.

The site is more of a business site than a weight loss site.

I would break it into 2 blogs

one to focus on the weightloss and another to focus on the business and link them within your content.
