Similar domain names - forward or just sit on them.

If I purchase several domain names because I don't want a competitor to grab them; yet, they might also be useful for SEO - should I forward them into my main website; or just sit on them?

Once again, scared of a Google penalty.

    I'd just hang unto them if they don't already have content on them. Also if you want to sell them just leave the who-is guard off

    Sit on them unless they're receiving type-in traffic, IMO.

    make a site on one of them and redirect from others; other then redirect you cant do much with the rest.

    if you make websites with all of them, they would be competing with each other, which isnt a great idea.

    If they are similar enough that people might type them into their browser, then you had better forward them. You won't gain or lose anything as far as rank whether they are parked or forwarded.

    Actually I think it is better to forward anyway to prevent them from showing up on a "Parked Domain List".

    I think is very good idea to buy some to avoid competitors in a similar domain name, I did it, too

    But I think you could forward the ones you think are very similar and maybe someone could type thinking is your main domain, but I don't see any SEO useful aspect
