I want my customers to feel this way

Hi everyone.

I just had an interesting experience.

A few days ago my brother received an email. He signed up for this Cooking Recipe Email List.

Me and my parents were in the living room, and he was in the computer room on the internet checking his email.

He came into the living room and was telling us about this recipe email list that he just joined.

And what he said next really caught my attention.

He said he opened up his email and 'They knew his name'

Of all the people on their list 'They knew his name.'

What he meant was basically at the beginning of the email list it had his name.

Now I didn't want to tell him that when he opted in for the list he inserted his name in the opt-in form, because I didn't want to ruin the mood he was in.

Having his name in the email made him feel important and I gues you could say special.

For the past 3 days he has been in a good mood and was telling a bunch of people we have met about this email list.

And what amazes me is that he is 38 yrs old. I would have thought that someone that old wouldn't have cared that much about that. (yes I am kind of young. lol)

Right now I am just buidling up my email list and want my customers to feel the way my brother did.

I don't know if Aweber does this automatically (adds their name to the email) but is certainly is cool.

I just thought I would share this as a reminder that what to use might be normal or "old news" is unique, new, and can be special for someone who isn't in Internet Marketing.

Thanks

WOw very interesting. I use the name field often in my emails and sometimes I see it as condescending myself I guess it impresses people still

That's an eye opener. Goes to show that it really doesn't take much to make people feel valued.

Well you only have to read Dale Carnegie's "How To Win Friends and Influence People" to see how valuable and powerful a person's name is....and as he says it is sweetest word for most people in any language
