Information Overload! - I have the disease

Had a free night so thought I would visit the war room and look for an SEO strategy ebook for a few sites. Was very precise in what I was looking for, either an seo course or a way to create some wordpress sites quickly (not paying $97 a month that loads of people seem to want at the moment) But now I have around 10 ebooks all saying different things with loads of softwares named and I don't know where to start. Looking for a simply free SEO step by step course after the Penguin and Panda updates that will rank my site. Also what softwares actually work!?

And a way to create quick affiliate sites for free too if anyone knows any softwares?

Thanks.
Tom.

    Hi Tom,
To get past information overload, go back to basics...

Do you have your niche sorted?
Do you know what you are offering them, how to monetise?

If those aren't in place, seo should not be your focus yet.

If they *are* in place, are you creating quality, relevant content? If so, the seo will come with decent on page and off page work.

Also, have you examined the top 5 results for the keywords you have in mind?
It could be that you will never out seo them, in which case other traffic methods will be your route.

    Hope that lot helps!
    Gordon

I know the feeling, and honestly, you can buy a lot of stuff these days telling you different stuff...

In my opinion, it is about going back to basic - and actually do what Google has been telling us from the beginning - deliver good content people can use.

So it is more about soft selling and giving people something they can use, so they want to buy more.

You should have a look into content curation - check this article.

Buy an aged domain, deliver content and outsource your link building.

You are welcome to contact me if you have any questions.

Tom, simply go to the part that you have had success with in the past and focus your time, energy and resources on that specific field of research.

I think this is the key, the thing is I was just doing everything so although I had some great results for a few months I don't actually know what worked and what didn't.

My content is original but I will refresh it again soon.

Sounds like you need to forget about SEO for a minute, and look more into implementing some testing and tracking techniques so you can verify what will work and what will not.

Also, if you don't know how to whip up a quick affiliate site, I suggest you spend a few days doing just ONE - focus on one site and get it to convert.

Take notes on what you do, study some other sites and decide what you like or dislike on them, and go build yours.

Once you get one good wordpress site done, there is cloning software you can get to just clone the site over and over - then it's just a matter of switching out the details on them.

I've been right where you are and I know how you are feeling. It's not fun is it? When I found myself in this situation I went back and read over my business plan. I wrote out a business plan when I first started even though it was not a great plan it still listed steps that I planned to take, etc. I stuck to my plan and it worked for me.

Try and also find similarities between the tactics so you can potentially decipher some working strategies, then after that have you considered testing each on individual sites? I do this all the time.
