Adding Multi-Language Support For Your WP Website?

I was thinking of adding a multi-language support for my WP site. Just like you see on most of the authority sites out there, where you can pick among the most popular languages and then the whole website is translated in that language.

What do you think about this and how does one go about doing this?

Thank you!

Please don't do this unless you get everything professionally translated. I can read in a number of languages and it annoys me that people use 'Google Translate' and the like to translate a page. If it puts me, a non-native speaker off due to the translation it would certainly put off a native speaker.

If you want to earn money then spend money on a professional translation. Maybe have a separate website.

P.S. Of course you will need your site to be manually translated first.

I also became interested in this too today. I found that Wordpress actually has a list of multilanguage plugins. The most popular high rated plugin is Polylang.

Here is a list of the multilanguage plugins hosted on the main WP site. Just make sure you carefully read how they work and which ones are the most user friendly/compatible. With these kind of plugins some of them mess your pages up if you go to remove them.

Yep, I thought it may mess up something upon removal. That's why I'm asking here whether someone already has experience with this and how it has worked out for them.

Of course, manual translation is needed, right? There's no way around that I assume.
