If You Had A Team Of 10 People For IM Costing Only $1000 Per Month What Would You Do?

Hey guys here is an interesting problem you might be able to help me solve for a friend or even joint venture with him on.

Here is the story

My friend has recently been made redundant from the financial company he was an operations director for.

His family are originally from west Africa (Republic of Ghana) which is an English speaking country which is using English law also as it is part of the common wealth (X British empire).

He is toying with the idea of maybe setting up some kind of outsourcing type business out there as he already has office space that he can use.

The average wages are about $100 USD a month in the area he was asking me if their was anything he can do with the internet and a team of people to make money, a few of the ideas I threw at him were:

Writing articles to either sell as PLR or use for article marketing
Trying to get a contract for online chat support (not sure what company to approach for this)

so my question to you guys would be

if you had 10 people sat in an office costing you $1000 a month who had 8 hours a day each free what would you have them do to make money on the internet?

Any ideas would be appreciated, anyone who may even be interested in doing a joint venture of some sort weather it be negotiating someone who will buy the PLR articles or finding work to outsource in exchange for work being done for them etc then that fine too.

I will be interested to see what kind of suggestions you come up with

Thanks for reading

Ben

    Hi Ben,

Without putting too much thought into it, I'd say link building and writing articles/social bookmarking etc.

    General marketing stuff really...

    Why?

Because anyone who is able to put 320 man hours per month into the marketing of a site is going to be able to generate some serious traffic...

That's my idea anyway, that's what I'd do with it...

A team of 10 can do a great deal of stuff.

    1. Article writing and marketing

    2. Link building such as directory submission, link exchanges, comment posting, forum posting, etc

    3. Social Bookmarking

    4. Blog creation

Hey, I am keen on hiring if they can do some quality work for me.

I'd go with this. Break them up into 2 man teams and have one team doing each of the above

    If I had 10 people in an office...for 8 hours a day...and all I had to shell out was $1000 a month...

    (and I'm assuming I can pick anyone)...

    I would have...

    1) An SEO expert to optimize my pages for the search engines

    2) A product developer to develop software, ebook, etc. so I can put my name on it to sell...

    3) A web designer to design a killer site for me...

    4) A copywriter to write the salesletter for the kickass site #3 designed for me

    5) A banker to check my accounts and make sure that the other 9 people on my team aren't embezzling funds from the operation

    6) A lawyer to make sure all my legalities are covered

    7) An accountant to track all my income and expenses

    8) A PPC/Adwords expert to manage my PPC/Adwords campaigns

    9) An article writer to write articles for me and keep up with my blogs, hubs, and lenses

    10) A security guard with a sniper rifle on the roof of the adjacent building to make sure the operation is flowing perfectly...

i am amazed that you need to ask.

They can do a LOT, mainly article writing, bookmarking, link building, forum postings. Really depends on their skills. Writing probably most lucrative if they are able to write good english articles.

Sending out emails from deposed Nigerian princes.

But, seriously, article writing is about the simplest thing for them to do. Link building might work but it would require some training to make sure that they didn't screw stuff up for customers.

Thanks guys for your response so far

I think article writing is the way forward as it requires very little training

in terms of a quick turn around for cash the main thing is if there is a way to sell the articles for cash upfront

ie if they make 10 articles a day each and work 20 days a month that is 200 articles

if they were sold at $5 an article then that would be $1000 per month per agent or at $2.50 an article $500 an agent which would work very well, the main problem I would have with that model is were to sell the articles and who to?

The other way would be to use the articles for article marketing and building traffic to a Blog or opt in list although this would work fine the main problem would be with forecasting profit and growth with the previous model its kind of easy if you know you make $500 per seat then you know if you have 10 seats you make $5000

if you were using the them to promote affiliate products it gets very hard to predict how much revenue you can make and when you can make it, as it would be nice to break even or make profit in the first month ideally.

Any ideas on were articles could be sold in volume consistently?

        Thanks

My off the cuff reply to your last question would be first look toward some of the established PLR membership sites and find out if they would be interested in obtaining article sets which would be uniquely their site's (i.e. you would sell the set to the membership site, who then gives PLR rights to its members)

Personally, I would be tempted to do things a little differently.

Instead of 2000 articles to be sold every month.
First month 2,000 articles to be sold in groups of 5 to 50 (Unique or PLR, depending on the articles) sold via WSO, Digital Point, etc, or sold to a PLR site.

I would keep this up, with a slight variation in subsequent months. 100 to 200 of the articles should go toward promoting a site from which this company could profit. Such as offering article writing services, or clickbank/adsense/affiliate sites to build income.

100 articles isn't a huge number in some contexts, but it is possible to draw in a lot of traffic with them.

Eventually, you might even want to go as far as taking a number of article writing hours to be put into creating a course or other product to offer. Which applying the same article marketing strategy as the affiliate sites, could generate even more money.

          Hope this helps.

Ben, I think article writing is a great idea, however, remember just how obvious small cultural and language differences are in writing, and how important it is to have a natural sounding "American" accent for an American audience, anything less will probably alienate the prospects.

for instance, I heard a PPC expert say onetime that he had a very well performing ad that he was running in the UK for a travel agency, saying something about "Have a Great Holiday"...He tried to run it in the USA and it tanked....Why?

Because Americans say vacation not holiday, and that small difference was enough to totally kill his great CTR.

I've been to Ghana, and their English is often VERY different from US or UK english....

So, just something to keep in mind/test, I guess.

Best of luck to your friend!

          Marie

Marie has a very good point.

If they are good writers - Associated Content pays a few dollars per article. Check them out. And also, he doesn't specifically have to have 10 people to start out with, does he? He could always hire a few, see how things go, and if it is profitable, take it from there.

I think your friend has an amazing opportunity to get himself some success. Of course the reality outweighs the dream scenario. I'd say get half the team to do something which will bring in immediate income say for example article writing. The other half of the team could train themselves in something specific. So one guy learning about SEO, another website design etc.
