I don't think social marketing is getting harder.

I do think it requires more effort to be successful but the pay off can be enormous.

Sure, the payout is enormous, but we need the right niche and related traffic to be successful

Are you referring to PPC on facebook or social media marketing? If social media marketing I don't think it's harder, I think people just don't understand how to market on facebook.

People try to hard sell, push products and use social media like broadcast media (i.e. commercials, radio, PPC)

It's the exact opposite of broadcast media. You need to know who your target customers are, engage them, talk to them about their interest, post relevant content and you'll stick out in their minds. Most people just want to create a facebook fan page and think people will like it for a reason, who likes to be sold to? Give them a REASON to like the page then engage them based on their interest.

But definitely try it, I'm not trying to discourage anyone from doing it, just don't want them to waste their time doing it the wrong way. People don't go on facebook to be sold to, they go on facebook for entertainment!

I dont think Facebook marketing is getting harder. I would try to engage your followers more with info, videos, personal life, and images. You could also try Facebook ads. Don't buy "likes"... it wont get you far.

    I totally agree with GSX.

The key here is that you should be creating interesting posts, engaging content, interesting headlines, putting attractive images in your posts, and making sure it can catch the attention of people.

Instead of "pushing" your views, try pulling by being engaging.

It's really simple at the end of it.

Social marketing is not getting harder but becoming very much competitive. I have not changed my marketing strategy with Facebook after the introduction of timeline. It works fine.

Facebook is not merciful when it comes to links so it's always been tough so advertise there unless you're willing to pay a lot for their overpriced ads. But timeline didn't change that at all IMO.

Yes,the ads may sometimes not get the attention we expect.

Besides, the places where they place their ads are ridiculous. They don't even fit in some monitors.

True. As long as Facebook stays relevant, every marketer needs to keep an eye on it, like it or not.
