hi how much do you rely on your friends to promote your sites via facebook twitter etcor do you just advertise and promte your sites on forums and blogs?
for example if i have alot of friends on facebook and twitter and i know they do also should i be taking advantage of them or should i keep it seperate, no one likes to be spamed by a friend

If you have 1 million+ followers then all good. Otherwise, statically, the volume of traffic required to make good money renders your collections of friends irrelevant ..

Facebook, twitter etc are big platform. If you have a big amount of friends or followers, you should use them for your business as well. If you don't want to bring them in business directly, you can operate a fan page for your business. Do not overlook this platform. It can give you business better than any other media.

IMHO, if they are your real friends then they will surely lend a hand to help you. I suggest building your business page or a fan page in facebook, ask your real friends to like your page you can do this via your status or if you are really close to them then you can send them a personal Message, by personal I mean not a template "hi friend pleas like my page". Once they are subscribed, be sure not to spam their news feeds. If you do this then most likely you will be "unfriend". 2 or 3 upates, posted at the right time will be more effective rather than spaming them all day.

Knowing my friends they would be leaving jokes and stuff not related to my niche on my page, so i don't tell them about my fan pages

I don't ask my friends to promote my business for me period. I like to keep that stuff separate, and not take advantage of that relationship to spam some offer across the internet. I might be in a minority in that regard though.

Well, if you're a minority, then so am I. I don't ask my friends to do any promoting for me either.

Business is business and friends are friends. I value my friendships more than any business plug.

I have only a reduced number of friends I could trust for advertising my websites. Most of them are really close and know what I do and what kind of help I need.

Networking is and always will be one of the best marketing tools out there.
Your statement says should I take advantage of them and the tone of it says to me it should answer your question for you.

I have not been on this forum long but have and do have many private forum accounts. I have quite a few friends I market too and let them do the same.
All too often I meet someone and they just load me with emails to help them with this and that, to send out a blast on this and to promote that.
I have to quickly put a stop to it before it ruins our relationship.

But yes if used correctly, networking is very powerful.

I keep it completely separate. I don't have 1 million Facebook friends either but even if I did I'm not sure I would feel right about spamming them.

fb max friend is 5000 not 1 million. and real friend maybe about less than 10%. so fan page / group is preferable. don't spam your real friend.

It's true that your friend can help you promote you business in any social media platforms. But the question is do they have the knowledge on how to give you a targeted people for the business?

As a newbie in internet, I know that there's a lot of other ways that you can promote your business. Just explore and have more patience because in promoting your business through internet is a trial and error.

If you think that you marketing strategy work well then fire it up but when your marketing strategy didn't work I guess you need to make some remedy and find another way to make your marketing strategy works.
