Schefren's Home Number?

Does anybody have Rich Schefren's
home number?

I just got an automated telemarketing
call from him at 7:09 AM - waking up my
wife and baby - they had a bad night.

I'm pissed.

I have had another Guru do the same. I have unsubscribed from his list but I still get automated messages. It is really annoying. Is there a way I can shield myself from these idiots?

Yeah, don't give out your phone #. It's 555-1212 for everyone and everything.

Pardon me for my ignorance. But how does 555-1212 help?

555 1212 is a well known false number used in fictional situations, like TV and movies, at least in North America - phone companies do not assign any 555 prefixes to a real phone number to my knowledge.

ps interesting also X - I didn't answer since I was not near my cell, but an unknown/blocked number tried to call me at 7:27am this morning as well.

Here's a tip to all you guru's - none of my personal friends answer blocked numbers - either at home or at work. If you want me to answer - send me your digits.....

And X - if it was me and this SOB woke up my family before 9am - I'd be spending the 20 bucks on those online find a person sites and spinning up the FTLs see if they like a call at 2 am....

of course there's that place that sends animal excrement as a 'gift' too, not the same effect as a horse's head, but I think someone would get the message ;-)

555-1212 is directory assistance in most parts of the U.S. and Canada. If you were to give that, or a fake number, people won't be able to call you.

The 555 prefix is frequently used in fictional media. You'll often see 555 used as the prefix for phone numbers in movies, television, etc. There is actually only a small range of 555-xxxx numbers reserved for such uses, but many numbers seen on-screen go outside that range, so who knows what kinds of calls some unlucky people may get.

Oh I see. I didn't know that. That's very helpful indeed. I will be sure to use that for all my future subscriptions. Thank you folks. By the way, there are forms which have 3 boxes and since 555-1212 accounts for two boxes, can I use any creative 3 digit number to fill out the other (area code)? I just want to make sure that I don't give out a number that would happen to be a real number.

Until they start editing their scripts to reject such numbers. Wouldn't be hard to do, actually.

Every area code I've ever tried it in has a 555-1212 directory assistance service.
