The 5 Minute Private Message Dilemma...

PM's are a huge resource here. I understand some unscrupulous losers have spammed the forums in the past leading to the existing solution.
Thing is, this 5 minute thing makes responding to legit PM's difficult. Especially for people running WSO's and Hire pages.
I've personally disabled PM's and highlighted the "email" feature...but no one seems to notice because PM'ing is so common.
Sooo....how about some sort of win-win. Here are my suggestions...

- Charge $5-$10 One-time fee for access to 1-Minute Delayed PM's: Metafilter charges $5 to create an account and it helps keep the spammers out. Allen Graves also does this with his Article Site with great success. The people who really need it will gladly pay. The others can continue dealing with the 5 minute delay. Maybe as a bonus, contributors can also get a little more space.
- Control PM Delay by Post Count
0-100 Posts = 5 Minute Delay
101-250 posts = 3 Minute Delay
250-500 Posts = 2 Minute Delay
501-1000 Posts = 1 Minute Delay
1001+ = No Delay - Remove PM Delays for War Room Members
I'm biased here because I'm a member (and it's niiice in there). But I'm also assuming the people that subscribe to the War Room aren't spamming the forums.
