What is your ultimate purpose for wanting to write an informative blog?

    To inform people?

    To make money?

To be a source for researchers?

Knowing your purpose is one of the most important aspects in determining what you write and how you write it.

    All the best,
    Michael

If you have an idea about what your theme is going to be , I would use a note book to write a few article headings and then start writing some of your articles.

Once you have a few I would start to publish them.

Once your blog is published, make sure it is Google friendly by putting the keywords that are most suited to your blog so that you will rank well for these with Google.

As you publish each article, make sure you "ping" it using a blog pinging service such as Pingoat, its free and it will help your blog to get indexed by Google quickly.

Also once you have more than about 10 articles do some on page SEO, by linking pages within your blog with each other.

This will keep your readers interested and it also helps a lot with Google.

You could create a simple index page on your blog for this, which is just one page with all of your page links on it.

Google does love blogs and after a while you should rank well for a lot of keywords and you will be surprised at how many well established websites that you can rank more highly for!

One site that I have found a lot of very useful information about blogs, what to write and how to promote them is www.problogger.net

I only stumbled on this site a few months ago, but I was pleased I did and if you are just starting a blog again, I am sure you will find it very helpful.

Become aware of the common concern, needs, and wants of your target audience. People don't usually like long, drawn out entries, but like targeted, to-the-point articles.

Um, red text on black backgrounds won't work either lol. Presentation is everything, make it easy for the reader and give him/her what they want. They'll appreciate you

I would go out and live your niche. Bring stuff to the table that's not already there. Don't rely on second hand information you gain from research.

Another good thing to do is use the keyword tool to see what kinds of questions are being asked on Google and write about that

Write your passion. After 50 articles then start thinking about monetizing it some way.

Let's say i have 50 articles, and a broad range of new readers/subscribers, then they start leaving comments on old articles, how would i know better yet, respond to the questions. I know the more you engage with your readers the better their chances of coming back. Is there a plugin to inform because going through each post might be a little tiresome.
