Aweber or GetResponse... which do/should I choose?

Hello all,

I've got a few squeeze pages sprinkled over the internet, and for the time being... I am using an autoresponder that I built myself (I'm a ColdFusion developer) that only captures their names and emails, and sends an email response after submission, but no follow-up emails. I'm trying to build my list.

I'd like to get a REAL autoresponder service when I start cranking out products and services, but I'm torn because I don't know what the differences are between Aweber and GetResponse, which (from doing some reading) are the 2 that most IMers use.

Can some of you kind folks share your pros/cons of the 2 services?

If you've used both... could you share why you chose one over the other?

If you've only used one... please share why you will never go to another... and so on.

The prices of the 2 are not that big of a deal, but I did notice that GetResponse has a yearly packed that's roughly $150 annually, whereas Aweber is at least $19 per month, then goes up after so many peoeple on your list.

Any help that you can provide would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanx folks,

DeShon

    Hi Deshon -

I use Aweber but if I were to choose today I would have trouble also. I was grandfathered into Aweber when the number of people on the list was much higher before the price elevated. So far, all my emails are delivered on time, the interface is simple, the reports are easy to read and develop, I love their customer service (I can get them on the phone quickly) and they've been responsive.

A friend of mine uses GetResponse for her clients and has been very satisfied with them too.

I wish you well in your choice

Thanks so much for your input Gail I REALLY appreciate it.

And I'm sorry if this subject has been beaten like a drum... but I'm trying to get honest testimonials from the folks that actually use them.

    Enjoy your day!

I use Aweber and find it reliable and easy.

As a recipient of email on many lists, I have heard some complain that their auto responder messages from Aweber did not get out on a timely basis. At least this was the explanation offered for my not getting messages when they were sent. I am interested in reading what others have to say as well.

I have purchased WSOs from some folks here whose autoresonders eitehr took FOREVER to send the confirmation link AND product... or didn't send AT ALL, and ended up having to email the product to me directly.

Aweber seems to be the service of choice, but everyone has "bugs".

I use Getresponse and I really like it. They're support is great and they always reply very fast.

Of course, I don't have experience with Aweber, so you should listen to someone who has experience with both.

For me, I went with GetResponse because of their pricing.

It would be interesting to know which one you choose and why.

This is why I haven't chosen yet... if GetResponse's services mirror those of Aweber, then it would make GREAT sense to go with GR.

That's why I was hoping someone that has used BOTH would share their views.

      Anyone?

It seems to be universally accepted that aweber has the best deliverability rate. That may or may not be true, but it is very good and has a solid reputation.

Getresponse does has a cool feature that allows subscribers to move through your sequence faster if they want. That feature almost made me go with them, but I found a site ( I forgot the name) that had deliverability tests from the individual servers used by a score of autoresponder services and Aweber beat out Getresponse and every other service I was interested in. It appeared to be a legitimate 3rd party source, but it's hard to tell nowadays.

Also Aweber doesn't allow free accounts, and Getresponse does, the logic is that spammers use the free account and that causes email services to block legitimate emails coming from the same servers and ultimately decreases the deliverability rate of everyone using that service.

Though the Getresponse feature seems to be a potential profit accelerator, I notice a lot more getresponse emails in my junk folder (I rarely check it) than aweber and you can't make profits if your subscriber doesn't see it.

    DeShon,

I've use both in the past (plus others) and stuck with GetResponse.
In relation to Aweber, it was before their change tot he new system and
due to the "single-optin" issue that's too easy to run into (i.e being able to
close off single optin with no way back). So things may be different under
    the new system.

As Jeff mentioned, GetResponse's API is a great feature.
Plus there's a chance GetResponse's new features will appear during
    coming months.

Btw, for something that should become so central to your business
success, avoid letting your brain make the decision on price (within
    reason)...

Take both for a spin and see which fits best for you.
You may even find their are reasons to keep both!

    Good luck,
    Adam

Thanks Adam I really aprpeciate it. I'm not going to let the price sway my decision... I may just take them both for a test drive once I "get things rollin'".

Although I haven't used GetResponse, I am pleased with Aweber. Although their pricing structure recently changed, they are constantly upgrading their system providing additional tools and ease of use for the user.

I've used GetResponse for several years now but am going to change to Aweber when my time is up (I pay yearly). GR has some limitations on what you can do & you just have to live with it. (I've contacted customer support & that's basically what they've said.) I signed up as an affiliate for Aweber & I like the fact that they communicate with me on a regular basis via their newsletter. They seem to care about me even though I'm not yet a customer. GR doesn't keep in contact much with their customers. That makes a difference to me.

      Just my 2 cents,
      Cynthia
