Computer Security - What You MUST Know

Top 10 Security Mistakes You Want to Avoid to Protect Your Online Business

I'd like to invite my fellow Warriors to a radio
show that I'm doing tonight at 7:30pm EST on the
topic of computer security.

We're not selling ANYTHING on the call, no name
squeeze pages
and all that garbage... we'd just
like to share some tips with you that it is
important that you know.

My friend Cheri works full-time in computer
security for a company where she couldn't even
discuss what she did for a long time. She finally
got permission for her bosses to grant me an
interview... and I'd like for you to be there.

Cheri and I have talked extensively about computer
security at seminars, and she has probably saved
my bacon a few times.

You can join us at:

You can even ask questions right in the chat room,
although I can't promise which ones she'll answer.

I came from a background where you were forced to
use very strong passwords, and were forced to change
them every few days. We were also forced to do full
virus scans on our computers several times a day,
were behind complex firewalls, and had to jump
through all kinds of hoops.

So, I have a better than average appreciation for
computer security, and how foolish it is to build
a six, seven or eight-figure online business and
not do simple things to minimize your risk.

Anyway, that's what we'll be talking about on my
show tonight, and I do hope that you'll join us.
It will be recorded if you can't make it... but
try to join us so that I'm not all alone :-)

Willie, I recommend also doing a call on "backups". Most people think that hard drives will never crash. They even think that having an offline External HD is good enough.

Best solutions are offline DVDs, RAID 1 or if online, Mozy and Carbonite.

As for security, I've run my own firewalls and can appreciate good security as well.

A call on backups is a great idea. I will plan on putting one together.

It is important to keep your computer secure, especially if you need it for your business. This is why it is important to use proper firewall and av software, as well as creating backups for your important files. There are several inexpensive or free solutions if you only have a few files to back up. You can for example copy them to a memory card or flash disk, or to an online backup service. Heck, even putting them in a zip file and sending them to yourself in your hotmail account is better than nothing.

Its also a good idea to encrypt any sensitive data you may have.
