I have a scholarly friend who is looking for a way to affordably print books on-demand- having them printed only when needed instead of printing 1000 at a time. I saw one service that was too expensive- it asks you for your price and then gives you about 15% of that price, but you only print a book if somebody orders.

There are several options: Blurb.com, CreateSpace.com and Lulu.com.

Your friend could also talk to a local printer to see if they offer such a service.

I printed some flyer for one of my clients.... but for books single copy will be costly...sorry....If you know someone living developing county can ask them to print it out for you, may be that can save some money for you........

Check out Lightningsource.com as well. Also if you're near a bookstore or library check out the ads in Writer's Digest. Several POD companies advertise in each issue.

Vervante is a great print on demand service. No up front costs and Net30 billing.

I had my travel guide - 244 pages - printed by a BOOK printer.
200 copies cost less than $5 ea. And that included shipping from Florida to California.
